For the past 4 weeks we did 3 different types of sport: Ti uru, Tapawae and Ki O Rahi.
Ti uru rules. There are 2 teams, each team has to try catch the ball while standing on cones, the cone gets pushed out if the ball is passed the a person who is standing on a cone. if its below the head its 1 point, if its over your head its 2 points and if the person catch it using there head/neck their team wins. The first team to get out all their cones win.
Tapawae rules ( Maybe ). There are two team, each team has to knock 3 balls off 3 cones that are being guarded by A Kaitiaki from the opposing team. The first team to knock of all of the other team’s cones win. There are 5 areas, 2 circle areas that only the Kairiaki can be in to guard the balls. 2 courts on opposite sides with 3 defenders and 3 attackers. The defenders try to stop the attackers from shooting at the balls by taking their ball and throwing it into the last area which is the middle. It sepaties each side from one another and to pass the ball to the other court like area you have to throw into the middle. 2 or 1 people from each team are in the middle and whoever gets the ball passes to their team’s attackers. For me I really liked the middle role. I found it easier that other roles because I’m not very good a blocking balls and I don’t like attacking or trying to get the ball off others. I did really like this game alot a would different love to do it again as long as I get the middle role.
Ki O Rahi. In Ki O Rahi there are 2 teams, as always. One team is trying to touch pou while holding the ball and then to hit the Tupe to get points. The amount of points are based on how many Pou they touched before hand. The other team is doing the same thing by touching pous but instead of hitting the Tupe they place the ball down in the middle circle. Teams switch every 5 minutes. To get them out the other team has to rip off a tag from their belt. I hated this game because I’m not someone who likes to move around all the time, I’m a cat who sleep 20 hours a day. I felt weird about having to rip tags and it just isn’t a game I like.
