In Te Ngahere we got to go to the whare and see two people called Grace and Thomas they work for a company called Blake VR. They got the name from a famous sailor who got famous by getting shot by pirates. His name was Sir Peter Blake and he won the sailing race twice and he had two american cups he also traveled the world to help the ocean and make it a better place for the fish. I learnt about how to keep oceans safe and clean and to stop over fishing because when we over fish there are no more fish to eat the kina and when the kina aren’t being eaten the kina eat the seaweed and then it kills the fish because the seaweed keeps the fish alive. It gives them oxygen like the trees give us oxygen. And I also learnt that not just trees give us oxygen, seaweed gives us oxygen too. The other thing I learnt was that if you go in a cave deep down in the ocean you will see yellow clay stuff which is called sea sponge. It takes water and collects all the plankton and stuff then it shoots clean water out so the fish and the water stays healthy.The way I felt was really excited and amazed by what the ocean really looks like and I was also disgusted on how people treated the ocean and I never will jump off a wharf especially when I know what it looks like underneath. What I enjoyed the most was the whole thing. If I got to do this again I would be very happy and excited.
