Three main types of rocks:
- Igneous [Igneous rocks are formed from melted rock deep inside the Earth.]
- Sedimentary [Sedimentary rocks are made from layers of something.]
- Metamorphic [Metamorphic rocks are made underground from lots of heat and pressure.]
Gneiss
Gneiss forms at convergent plate boundaries. It has been subjected to higher temperatures and pressures than schist, it is formed by the metamorphosis of sedimentary rock. It is said that it takes about a million of years for Gneiss to form.
Gneiss can be used for interior and exterior spaces:

- Gneiss is often mistaken for schist rocks because both types are metamorphic rocks.
- It is one of the oldest stones discovered on Earth.
Limestone
Limestones form in shallow marine environments, such as the edge of a continent under the sea. Limestone forms when cacite precipitate out of water containing dissolved calcium. It also takes about a million years for it to form.
Limestone can also be used for decoration but it can also aggregate the base of roads, as a soil conditioner, and as decoration to rock gardens.
- When limestone is heated, it produces a carbon oxide that makes soil used for planting food richer and healthier for plants to grow food.
- Limestone comes in a variety of colors, it depends on the other minerals and elements while forming.
