Friendship Conflict

Health Assessment – Friendship Conflict

In this assesment I was taked to identify conflict wthin a friendship, and how it can have a negative/degrading impact on your hauora. I was also intructed to come up with two stratergies on what the indivisuals can do to either fix or end the freidnship.

Goals for the Asessment:

  1. Identify the conflict/issue in the friendship from the story. And explain why it’s an issue.
  2.  How can this affect the hauora of  Alex and Jordan?
  3. Write two strategies on how they can resolve the friendship and 1 negative strategy.
  4. What strategy will be the most effective one and why

The friendship conflict:

Alex, Mia, and Jordan have been best friends since middle school. They used to spend a lot of time together, sharing secrets and supporting each other through thick and thin. However, recently, after starting highschool Mia has gotten into a new friendroup and has become distant. She avoids hanging out with Alex and Jordan, doesn’t reply to their messages promptly, and often makes excuses to spend time with other friends.

The Issue/my awnser:

This conflict doesn’t just involve one person, it involves three people. To explain the conflict further, these three people have been in a close friendship with each other since middle school, and did everything together. In the present day, Mia has recently entered new friendships and has grown distant from the other two parties. For example, she avoids hanging out with them, makes excuses, and spends more time with her new friends. What Mia didn’t do is have an even split of her new friends, and her old ones. She should’ve acted more maturely when it came to having new friends, and shouldn’t have blown the other two (Alex & Jordan)off just to hangout with her new friends. Having new friends is fine and great, just you need to be more mature and have others aware of your new friendships. Especially if these other people have known you since middle school.

Hauora – This can affect Alex’s (List the Hauora) by:

Alex can lower his worth. For example, if Mia does continue this toxic and rude behavior. Alex will most likely think his friendship with Mia didn’t mean anything to her, or doesn’t mean anything overall. This conflict/issue can affect Alex in many ways, for example this factors of his hauora will be affected:

  • Mental/Emotional – Alex (and possibly Jordan), will think their friendship(s) with Mia don’t mean anything to her, and with that issue: the rest of their hauora will crumble
  • Social Wellbeing – With the lack of a true, trusting, and happy friendship in Alex’s life, he will possibly feel like he’s failed not only mentally, but socially as well. He will lack making friends, and possibly developing socially. Which will affect the way he develops his current and possibly future relationships.
  • Physical Wellbeing – As the two above factors of Alex’s (and possibly Jordan’s) hauora begin to fail, so will his physical wellbeing. Let me inform you on a couple things, first: as your social/mental well beings start to crumble, so will everything else. This idea practically created the maori philosophy of hauora. As Alex destroys himself mentally and socially, he will stop doing his basic physical needs. Like brushing his teeth, taking showers, and doing basic hygiene routines.

Statergy/how to resume the conflict:

  1. Positive Scenario: Alex and Jordan can respectfully ask Mia to meet up with them and they can talk things out. This meetup can open opportunities for these three individuals to catch up, talk things over, and hopefully fix their friendships. Hopefully, Mia will understand these two people asking to speak to her, and hear them both out. After this, most likely this scenario will result in the three people in this conflict to resume to a healthy friendship again.
  2. Negative Scenario: Now, to give life and ourselves balance: we must have a bad outcome. Firstly, let’s say Mia comes up with an excuse to blow off Alex and Jordan. This angers Alex & Jordan collectively, and they attempt to confront Mia about it in person. When they see Mia in public, they both (sadly) allow their emotions to take over them and not think things through maturely. This horrible and negative scenario results in a broken, ended, and bad friendship. And in that case, the friendship between Mia, Jordan, and Alex has ended.
  3. Mix Of Both: Now for the lucky last. And, as life goes, we must have a mix of both negative and positive scenarios. We could say Mia, Jordan, and Alex all agree to meet up in person. Alex is slightly driven by his emotions, but is mature enough to calm them. Jordan and Alex meet up with Mia and they talk things over, and speak about how things have been going between these three. Mia hears their concerns, but doesn’t want to be friends again. This upsets Alex and Jordan, and they ask Mia for answers. Mia, being the person she is, gives them her reasons why it’s best to end the friendship. Alex and Jordan hear her out, and respect her decisions. And with that result, the friendship between Alex, Mia, and Jordan has ended. This is honestly the best strategy for these three, because Mia has been blowing the other two off to hangout with other people. But, this is a fictional story, so we can’t really know. But, in my opinion this sratergy looks to be the most effective.

Note to the readers:

This post was meant to be done earlier, but due to personal and other factors contributing to my distraction: I wasn’t able to finish and post this assessment. Hopefully, the wait hasn’t left you disappointed. And to be honest, I have tried my very best to show how far I’ve come in my work, and to demonstrate my learning throughout this post. Again, I am sorry for the long wait and how long it’s taken me to complete this assignment, when I really should have finished it faster. And I thank you for reading this post.
