Tyler Galpin’s story from Wednesday

Tyler Galpin’s story from Wednesday

Tyler Galpin’s story from Wednesday is about a seemingly normal barista who is secretly a Hyde, a violent shapeshifting monster, manipulated by Laurel Gates to commit murders. His Hyde nature was concealed from him by his father after his mother, also a Hyde, was institutionalized, causing Tyler to feel neglected and resentful towards outcasts. Laurel exploits his trauma and anger, unlocking his Hyde form, which initially operates on instinct but later Tyler embraces as a part of his identity.

Did you know what happened to Tyler? Despite his run-in with Wednesday and an axe — Tyler does not die. Although he still ends Season 2 at his lowest emotional point yet. Tyler gets to keep his powers, but loses the most important person in his life in the process: his mother, Francoise.

Tyler Galpin’s mother, Francoise Galpin, is a Hyde whose abilities were unleashed by postpartum depression after Tyler’s birth, leading to her institutionalization and presumed death. Sheriff Galpin, fearing Tyler would inherit the same condition, became neglectful, which contributed to Tyler’s anger. Francoise later escaped her confinement at the Willow Hill asylum, and in season 2, reunited with Tyler, though she is later killed by him during a Hyde transformation.

His mother, Francoise Galpin, was also a Hyde, and his father, the sheriff, became distant out of fear that Tyler inherited this nature.

In Wednesday, Tyler Galpin is revealed to be a Hyde who was controlled by Marilyn Thornhill to commit murders, and he was eventually subdued by Enid Sinclair. After being taken to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital, Wednesday later freed him during the season 2 finale, allowing him to escape after a battle with his mother.
