Māui ki Te Waipounamu
A long time ago, there was a great waka hourua that was called Tūwhakarara. That had traveled across the sea straight to Te Tai Poutini. While the people on the waka sailed to the shore at Maitahi, they were amused by how stunning it was. The wahi was calm and smothered with promise, but unfortunately they couldn’t stay at the time, and had to continue on their haerenga. So, they’d decided to tie up two taniwha to the whenua at the south point of the bay. This point has still been known to this day as Heretaniwha, the spot where the Taniwha were tied.
I can’t be bothered to finish this, seeing as we never got much time to anyway
(or at least I didn’t)
