Task description: Last week on Friday we have been once again starting and completing yet another STEM/ STEAM activity. Instead of a harness we have created a rocket dart. What I mean by this is we created a paper rocket with a hole in the centre for a straw, the straw would be placed in the centre then blown into to shoot the rocket out as far as gravity allows it. We were in fact given instruction on how to make this, though a few people (including me) attempted to do it in our own way.
We did this activity to teach us more about friction and movement, which my teacher has told me and my classmates about. This activity also may teach you about the 4 elements of flight which are ; thrust, drag, lift, and weight. Depending on how you balance out these 4 elements, your paper rocket, may go far or fall short. You have to also properly understand these features and how they work. A picture example will be shown below as it may be slightly Confusing
Â

Not only did we use these 4 different elements of flight, but we collaborated together to try and help each other to improve. An example of this is when someone asked me how to create the pointed nose of the rocket ship. I simply told him that you must cut out a circle then cut out a triangle from the middle of the circle then connect the 2 edges. Despite the fact that everyone made their own, we all collaborated and worked together to try and create a good rocket by using our STEM/STEAM skills.
