Young Kids should:
- do 60 minutes or more of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day
- be active in as many ways as possible
- be active with friends and whanau at home, school and in the community
- spend less than two hours a day, out of school time, in front of a TV, computer or game console.
The 60 minutes can be completed all at once or in chunks throughout the day. This might include:
- playing games
- walking, running or riding a bike to get from place to place
- participating in cultural activities such as kapa haka
- working
- dancing Tamariki giving heart and soul kapa haka performance.
Being active is a great way to spend time with family and friends, explore the local community or re-energise during break times at school.
My group and I did the advance fitness test video. My heartbeat per minute was normally 40 and then after we did the fitness, my heart beat turned 60. That’s a 20 BPM difference.
Doing the video felt entertaining and a little bit exhausting but overall it was fun.
The vide helps our body to move more and stretch which help us achieve our fitness goal in an enjoyable way.
When you strengthen your Taha Tinana through movement and nutrition, it acts as a sturdy wall that keeps your entire Whare Tapa Wha balanced. Taking care of your physical body directly releases dopamine hormones that lift your thoughts and emotions, while giving you the energy to actively connect and engage with your loved ones.
