Before the boy built the tall wall around himself, he felt very upset, overwhelmed and petrified because nobody seemed to care or love him. He felt suffocated by the weight of his painful feelings. He grew hollow inside as his happiness vanished. It seemed everyone abandoned him, leaving him alone to carry these painful feelings by himself. As a result he felt shattered, unsafe, loneliness and defenseless.
