Tamatoa Week 4

Tamatoa Week 4

Greetings and salutations viewers, today in this blog, I will be taking you guys on a journey where we have another session of Tamatoa. For those who don’t know what Tamatoa is, it’s basically a programme where you learn the rules of rugby league, and possess and finding your inner and outer confidence throughout the sports realm. So come with me on this journey packed with tackling and wrestling!

First and foremost, after morning tea, the boys had to line up in-front of room 10, waiting for the teacher that was going to come out for the session. We could see the instructors spreading their gear out of their bags, which made some of the people too excited. When we saw the teachers, we then lined up waiting for the call. It wasn’t the girls day today, considering that their day was yesterday ( Tuesday ) we then entered the class with ” Jess ” the teacher that was coming out today. We were asked to take off our jackets and we did so. So after that, we marched outside in a pack, walking towards the instructors while conversations filled the atmosphere. When we arrived we were told to form a circle, and so we did.

When the circle was successfully formed, the instructors introduced themselves again, and started explaining about the new learning environment which was ” Teamwork ” and we had to answer 2 questions relating to the matter. We didn’t have a hard time finding answers to the questions, because our school had already gained knowledge about what teamwork is and how it shapes us in many ways. My group was very interactive with others, and so that’s why we had a lot to say. We then separated into two groups, one was wrestling and the other was tackling, I wasn’t too sure what the wrestling was for, but we did have to contest each other. We had to be in a hugging position where you could be fully intacted with the person. Because of my tall and slender build, I won easily most of the time with no struggle. We approximately had two to three rounds before we swapped over, but when we did we had to go for a water break. After that we finally swapped over, and we had the tackling session. The tackling session was all about tackling obviously, but we learned new stuff such as whatever foot your using to tackle you use the same shoulder to avoid harmful injuries.

Tackling I was really familiar with, because I had to practice tackling when I played rugby. But my experience with it was honestly great, because it reminded me of my old training, bringing back memories. We tackled from right to left, side to side, and we bumped off the victims, just not over the top type of bumping off. But overall the session was fun and energy-filling. After those two sessions, we came back into a circle and the instructors started to explain the second activity we were playing, which was going to include the skills that we learnt today ” Tackling ” and ” Wrestlings ” the good old, game of ” Sumo ” a game where people are scattered inside of a square, and you had to tackle or wrestle someone out of the square. Everyone tried to avoid me because of my slender build, But I wasn’t targeting to make the game a bit fair. In the end I won 2 rounds, the game was energy-filling and really packed up a lot of enthusiasm.

Our last and final game of the session included tackle bags and two different teams, the tacklers, and the runners. We scattered into two different teams, and I was lucky enough to be one of the tacklers, because I was pretty experienced at this game already. But in the end, many people weren’t experienced in tackling and missed some of it, but I couldn’t blame them because it’s probably a first time thing. Then we switched teams, and we had to run, when the whistle blew we run, and when it blew again we stopped sort of like a game of red light green light. In the end I was successful and made it to the end. In conclusion, this session was fun packed with energy-filling activities, positive attitudes and behavior.

Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day/week.
