Hurricanes are very common all over the world! They are very powerful and usually happen when the weather is terrible! They cause strong winds and have knocked down lots of things like trees, fences, bins, and sometimes even houses or cars. They are very dangerous weather forms. A typical hurricane can dump 6 inches to a foot of rain across a region. That is crazy!
A hurricane can form from warm ocean water and moist air. Then the water is released into the air, creating the clouds of the storm. As it rises, the air in the hurricane rotates. That is how the hurricane forms. They are very powerful! They are tropical storms. On the outside of a hurricane, they have rainbands! They are curved bands of clouds. They form when hurricanes form!
Hurricane Season begins on June 1st and is on November 30th. These powerful storms can occur before and after the official season but they are not as bad. A hurricane can be an incredible and destructive force of nature. But the damage they do can sometimes take years to fix and sometimes cost quite a lot of money!
