Cross Country🥇

Hello

Today I am writing about my cross country.

I loved it but also hated it because I got a really bad stitch but I am happy because I got first in the year 5 girls.I was only competing against Chelsea and Natalya though which wasn’t that hard. (Also Chelsea had diabetes and Natalya had asthma .)

First We had to watch the year six’s race and then it was our turn.Secondly we started the race and I fell behind but then I Quickly caught up and we had to run three laps.Next we watched the year 1,2,3 and 4 race and then we got the results the next day .

The challenging part was to run the three laps because they were super long! What should I write about next?

Goodbye.

We put paper in trays filled with tea then we got tea bags and put it on the paper to make it look like it had been in the war and it was old. Then when it dried and we had got all of our research then we started writing on it what we did atfer we had writin on the tea paper we put it on the wall with our artefact.

Have you ever researched a peson who went to war?

Matatu

HELLO,

on thursday, the Matatu rugby players came. We did lots of cool training drills like passing the ball down a Long Line,  and once the ball reached the other end, you had to pass the ball all the way back. Then you had to sit down, and we came first twice when we were versing other teams.

. My favourite part was winning the passing game twice

. Have you ever seen or heard of the Matatu people before?

Week 4 Creative Writing,

This week my goal was to Use figurative language in my writing.

Do you think I achieved my goal?

Tanner puffed up his chest, I’ve got this! He thought. He quietly stepped forward and pushed aside the flap of the tent. Inside the tent there sat a man, he was staring intently at Tanner like an owl stalking its prey.

“Um, hello.” Tanner squeaked, all his confidence disappearing in an instant.

“Hello,” replied the strange man, his voice was cunning and knowing.

Tanner breathed in shakily, he clenched his fist and stood a little straighter.

“I am here for the riddle.” He said in a confident voice.

“I know, young Tanner. You have to be worthy to receive the riddle.” The man said in a voice as smooth as silk. He grinned at Tanner, a smile which sent shivers down Tanner’s spine.

“H-How do you know my name? And what do you mean I have to be worthy? Maybe the villagers are right and you are crazy.” Tanner stammered, as scared as a mouse in the mouth of a cat.

“Oh, I know a lot of things about you Tanner. And it’s too late to back out now, you’re already here. I can sense you are worthy of my riddle.” The man said mysteriously.

Tanner noticed for the first time that the man’s eyes were shaped like keyholes.

“Let’s begin, I assume you know the rules?” The creepy man questioned. Tanner tried to back up but stopped, he was so close to his goal.

“Can you repeat the instructions? All the rumors are different.” Tanner asked, nervously fiddling with his shirt collar. The strange man stilled,

“You have one riddle, I will flip this hour glass and by the time the last grain of sand slips through you will have given me your answer. If you get the answer wrong you will be doomed to be my servant for forever. However, if you get it right, I will give you a great treasure. Do you understand?” The man’s voice had gone deep and grim.

“I understand.” Tanner said, excitement bubbling in his stomach.

The man grinned and started the riddle.

“I have a metal body but no hands,

I have a head but no brain,

I can open the smallest box,

But I am lost to all, and no one knows where I lay.

What am I?”

Tanner thought as the man flipped the hourglass. He thought maybe a key, but that was not lost to all. He was starting to panic as the last grains of sand slipped through the middle. Just as the time ran out Tanner blurted.
“A Lost Key!”

The man looked confused and slightly shocked.

“Well done! You got it right!” He said with a hint of surprise in his voice. Tanner grinned, He did it! He was about to get the great treasure the man had promised.

“Pick a key, any key. Just chose wisely, this is the great treasure I have promised.” Tanner looked around and realised for the first time that there were heaps of keys on hooks all around the room.

“Um, that one! The one over in the corner!” He said, excited and a little disappointed. The man reached up behind him and grabbed the key Tanner was pointing to. He then handed it to Tanner as if expecting a reaction.

“Thank you. What is it for?” Tanner said, examining the key.

“You will find out, young Tanner.” The man said mysteriously and shooed Tanner out the door. Tanner turned around to get one last look of the tent. He was confused, what was this mysterious key for? What did it unlock?…

The Eruption

We have been learning about to make an image in our head. We also have to imagine how they feel and what they are doing. The teacher Mrs Fearn gave us some cards to help us.

.This story we have been writing about is called The Eruption we had to draw the picture what we created in our head. We each got a prompt.  In the book a family was really tired and they all went out to see what the diggers and bulldozes were doing.

I feel very happy with what we did!

I would work on putting more detail in what I’m saying.

I think it was easy to say what I think they could hear but I found it was hard to make an image in my head.

Week 4, Term 2, Creative Writing

This is the picture I based my story off this week… I hope you enjoy reading my story.

“Scabadard, sit!” Ignoring the old man the weird looking beast continued to push his ugly snout deeper into the ground. Rolling his eyes Celiac, put his goggles back on his face. Bending down he continued scraping with the metal tweezers he had carefully shaped for this specific purpose. Excitement grew within him like a fire travelling towards gun powder. The metal helmet had strange white sticks poking out of it and bits of a red stone stuck onto the metal.

“This last piece and then it will be ready and I will rule the world! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!”

He cackled a peculiar laugh and his peculiar pet stopped his digging and looked up at his owner with a look of question on his wrinkled face.
“Don’t judge me!  It is how all the wonderful scientists laugh.” Scabadard shook his head as best as an Azoth could. The old scientist turned around and added the finishing touches to the helmet. The hairless rhino, mole rat, and dog pushed his head deeper still into the hole he had dug. Carefully the Celiac stuck the last piece onto the metal bowl. Picking it off the rock table gingerly he stuck it on his bold head with much care. Scabadard looked up a second time to see if the old man’s experiment would actually work. Nothing happened for a few seconds and Celiac’s grin vanished. He began lifting up his hands to take off the metal contraption but as he did so the ground began to shake. A soft mist engulfed the dark cave and a glow erupted from the delighted scientist’s head. Scabadard was so astonished he stood still and stared around him. Millions of tiny, glowing rocks drifted towards the glowing helmet and Celiac laughed his cackle a second time. Though this time Scabadard didn’t say anything.

Caring, Connecting, and Cross Country

We’re already into week three of the term, and it’s hard to believe how quickly the time is flying by.

This week we’ve included a photo of Nevaeh’s special wall in her classroom, which helps her peers see what she’s been up to throughout the day, as mentioned in a previous post.

One thing we’ve really noticed lately is how naturally drawn Nevaeh is to nurturing and caring for babies. We’ve been leaning into this interest as an opportunity to build on those lovely innate caregiving skills. With some dolls, a crib, stroller, and other baby items added into the space, it’s been an absolute hit. When Nevaeh first saw the crib, she immediately went over, said “sleep,” and carefully tucked the baby into bed. Such a cool moment to witness.

Nevaeh is also forming some really nice friendships with Jackson and Dakota, which has been wonderful to see grow over the past few weeks.

She’s also been doing some practice for cross country, which was a great lead-up to yesterday’s event. Nevaeh completed her lap in the sunshine and absolutely loved it.

Olivia has also been doing some fantastic work with Nevaeh using the mirror to support conversations around body parts, integrating lots of speech and language opportunities while focusing on identification and communication.

I’ve honestly been so impressed by everything Olivia and Jackie have been doing to support Nevaeh while we are without specialists. From physio and occupational therapy through to speech and language support, they’ve both done an incredible job making sure Nevaeh’s needs continue to be well met. Thank you so much, ladies.
