Day 1 27 March – OMG Did Day 1 for Beginner’s Running Guide. Didn’t know I had let myself get so-o-o unfit. Leg muscles so atrophied (lost muscle mass) had trouble with mechanics of running and  felt discomfort in my hips. my poor heart muscle struggled too so I  got close to  my max heart rate
220-59 (my age) =  161bpm. Was in the 150s at one point. By minute 16, not much difference between the ‘run’ and the walk.LOL  Favourite parts, the warm up,the walks and the warm down. Will do one of the following core workouts later
Flat Belly and Round Booty workout  Really challenging only made to 8min 30secs last time
Core Exercises for the True Beginners Informative and  gives good advice on ‘form’

Day 1 of the Lockdown

When I got up on the morning of day 1 I could here the horses galloping around next door. I looked at my clock and it was already 10:00am. that’s one good thing about being stuck at home, sleeping in.

I have created a routine:

  • sleeping in of course
  • then making my bed and getting dressed
  • get up have a shower
  • have breakfast
  • do a little bit of schoolwork
  • go for a walk up the hill across the road
  • come back and do more work
  • then finally relax

over the past few days I have made russian fudge, dad got us disney+ for a week and bought a lego set to keep me sane.

We made beer bread which is a type of bread that doesn’t use yeast. It’s easy to make and takes about 1 hour.
Here’s the recipe:
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 330ml can of warm beer

Method:

sift the dry ingredients. make a well in the centre. add the can of beer. mix quickly and lightly (this is a sticky dough). put into a bread pan lined with baking paper. bake at around 175c for around an hour.
(the alcohol cooks off so not alcoholic).

even though being stuck at home has its down sides, I think we can all get through it.

1st day in lockdown

26/3/2020

Nothing really interesting has happened in the lockdown, school work is challenging but I will get the hang of it. I have noticed it’s a lot quieter now: No cars, dogs for some reason are quiet to and the lack of people outside.

my lockdown

i feel like 4 weeks without able to hangout with friends and seeing family is a bit rough. it kinda annoying that everything is closed besides supermarkets and like gas stations and the pharmacy’s.

if i’m being honest i prefer to do school work at school instead of doing it at home.
beside listening to music and watching Netflix and playing games i haven’t done anything because i cant really do anything because of this virus

Lockdown – Day 1

I’ve been doing many things; baking, playing with younger siblings, cleaning, doing schoolwork, gardening and getting up to date with Netflix. I feel a bit anxious, as to whether my grandparents or neighbours, might get Corona virus. But other than that, I feel quite refreshed having some time off school. The main concern in all news reports recently is anything to do with Covid-19. Whether it be case numbers rising, death tolls going higher or supermarket product shortages, it’s all over the news. New Zealand is currently in Stage 4 of lockdown, which is raising panic from all over the country, including myself. 🙂

DMIC math problem solving

On Tuesday we did DMIC problem solving. We had to solve who is right and wrong. Peter makes different rectangles with a 30cm string, Peter thinks that all the rectangles he makes will have the same area but Miri disagrees, and we think that Peter is correct because all the rectangles he makes has the same length so we think that Peter was correct. but another group said that Peter was wrong, and Miri was correct, the other group cut out some paper and they all have the same length but they are different when they compared one with the other one and realized that they did not have the some area. When I was looking at their way of solving it I just realized that I was wrong because I was not looking at it properly.

Maori World Views – EOTC

Kia ora ano koutou

Hopefully you have opened and can navigate your way through this site

MOE resource EOTC-Guidelines

We will start by looking at the philosophical foundations of EOTC (Education Outside The Classroom) For the next two days we will be focusing on the Maori World Views module.
Please make a Google doc entitled EOTC blog Posts so that you can write responses to each post I make – edit -THEN post to the blog. It would be a good idea to copy and paste the instructions onto your google doc, write your well considered response then copy and paste  only your thoughts to the blog -not the questions.

1. “Education in and outside the classroom needs to contribute to the Hauora/Wellbeing of it’s participants (students and teachers)”

How do you anticipate training for the Cross Country and the BOIC Cross Country EOTC event itself will contribute to all four dimensions of student participant Hauora?
I would like you to look at the six  values included in The Whare Tapere section and consider how our actions pertaining to the cross country could promote growth in all six values but only write a response to the following based on Rangatiratanga.

2. “…each member of the group can influence the direction the group takes and as such there is a sense of shared leadership and collaboration”

Looking again at your Leading to the Cross Country assessment  tasks while considering this quote, which tasks will require you to “… share a certain purpose” and “...  act in unison” and with whom?

3. Your final task is to comment on the post of two other  classmates. Please ensure your comment is
POSITIVE      THOUGHTFUL and, if you can, HELPFUL

I am posting the following link for you to navigate as it contains modules with content I would like you to become familiar with. I suggest you bookmark it so you can continually return to it over the next four weeks. I will be asking you questions based on each module which I hope will promote in-class sharing of ideas and understandings of each module.
