We  have been learning about our dream gaming room, and we also learnt about perimeter and area.

Our group name is Puanga. The names of the people that were in my group are: Kora, Zafe, Luka, Meadow and Savanna.

We created  our work by using a guide that showed the measurements we needed to use for each area of our gaming lounge.

We measured the area and perimeter using rulers and addition and multiplication. We used addition for perimeter and we used multiplication for the area.

Next time I do work with perimeter and area I will know what knowledge I need to have.

I am proud  of my work because we worked together to finish our work and it turned out good.

My tips are to learn about area and to know your multiplication .

We have been learning about dioramas

This is my work

I created by using paint, pompoms,popsicle sticks, Rooks, paper and other material.

The people in my group was kora and me.

I am proud of my work because of how it went it was fun to paint.

Something I found quite challenging was painting the water and rooks.

Next time I might try to not mix the water and paint together.

My tip is to not put to much paint on at once or it will take forever to dry.

We have been learning about Estuaries.

this is my work about Estuaries.

I created this by reading the text to get the information to know what an estuary is. It is salt water mixed with river water.

so this is some of the information from the text. An estuary is like a giant mixing bowl. Ingredients like sediment and nutrients from the land and rivers mix with sea water.

I am proud of my work because we did a really good job at making the diorama.

Something I found quite challenging was painting with my partner.

next time I will try to tell people what estuaries are.

My tips about this subject is to read a book about Estuaries so you can have all the information.

We have been learning about Estuary’s and my class went to  the beach at the Waitara boating club.

Then we went to Onaero Bay Motor camp. We travelled  by our school vans.

Then after we went to the Estuary’s to learn about daylighted streams.

Through learning  more about Day lighted streams from the sun and estuary’s, An estuary is a thing when salt and river fresh water mixes together and there are eels that live at bottom of the estuary in grass, mud and rubbish.

I am proud of my work because my partner Raanan and I worked together. and we both coloured in the diorama  together. 

My tips are if you don’t know what’s in an estuary it is when fresh water and the ocean mix together like milk and cream mixing together.

Next time I’m gonna try putting less paint by doing more details and making it more realistic by using real sticks rocks and grass.

I created this by thinking about how to make my story interesting. It is a drama and horror mixed together. I put in it who lives and dies.

I am proud of my work because when I thought the story was long enough I still kept adding on to my writing.

Something I found quite challenging was making up new ideas.

This is my mahi about my gaming room , we all had to diy a gaming room we used perimeter and area. Perimeter is when you measure the outside of a shape and the area is when you measure the inside of the shape

Something I found quite challenging was trying to figure out where we should put things . 

Next time I will try be more creative and try do more details . 

My tip for this mahi is to use area – multiplication because it will help and it will be very useful . 

I created this by making a diorama and by using crafty things like a glue gun to make stuff like rocks, we dyed dry straw to look like grass.

I am proud of myself because I made some really cool stuff like a bridges out of popsicle sticks.

Something I found quite challenging was making sure I don’t get paint on my hoodie and pants.

Next time I will do more stuff  animals in my diorama.

My tips about this are do your best at painting and add more things then like a car and raft.

I created this by making a diorama and by using crafty things like a glue gun to make stuff we would see at a diorama.

I am proud of myself because I made some really cool stuff like a raft out of popsicle sticks.

Something I found quite challenging was making sure I don’t get paint in the wrong parts.

Next time I will do more water life animals in my diorama.

My tips about this are do your best at painting and add more things then just clouds or grass be creative.

We have been learning about perimeter and area, area means inside and when you use area you use multiplication but perimeter means outside and when you use perimeter you use addition.

We had to draw a air hockey table, a gaming rug, LED lights, computer, beanbags, and a TV.

Check out my groups, my favourite part about the creation is the air hockey.

Something I crushed was doing the math for the computer setup.

A tricky moment was the drawing the game room because we kept making mistakes.

My biggest takeaway was learning about millimetres.

We have been learning about  millimeters, meters, measurements, area and perimeter.

This is my work about designing our own gaming room.

I created this by adding all the meters together.

I am proud of my work because when we did the gaming rooms we found out that each and every square was 1m2. The total perimeter of our games room was 80m2. Our ping pong table was 3m  x 2m.  Our beanbag was 2m x 2m. Our mat was 3m x 4m =12m2. The tv area was 1m x 3m and our LED lights were 8m so all up 47m2 to walk around. We had 33m2 of games.

Something I found quite challenging was multiply all the m2 together.

Next time I will remember that area involves multiplication.

My tips about making our gaming room is to learn a lot of stuff about gaming rooms before drawing your sketch and make sure you have enough walking space in between each gaming item.

We  have been learning about  making a gaming room with area and perimeter.

I created this by using my knowledge about area and perimeter and using a ruler to calculate the length and width in cm square.

I am proud of my work because I done my best.

Something I found quite challenging was thinking of what to add like more gaming stuff around the room.

Next time I will add more things about gaming.

The perimeter is the outside of the area is the inside of the perimeter.

My tips about this is to add more gaming ideas on to make your work even better, but remember you have to work on how much area you have and if  have never worked with perimeter or area get someone that has done it before to help you.

Did you know that when we designed a games room we had to use our area and perimeter knowledge that we learnt in maths.

First we had to write the perimeter in, then draw a ping pong table, beanbag lounge, gaming rug and LED lights and then we wrote  the measurements and coloured the game room in.

The perimeter is the outside and area is the inside of the perimeter.

We had to measure the perimeter and the perimeter was 80m.

When we use perimeter it is Addition and when we use area, it is Multiplying.

Something I was good at was writing the measurements.

A tricky moment was trying to have enough room for walking space.

Kia Ora did you know that you can design cool stuff using perimeter and area?

If you don’t know what Perimeter and Area is Perimeter means outside and when you use perimeter you use addition and Area means inside and when you use area you use multiplication.

First we had to figure out the perimeter of the game room which was 80m. Then, we had to figure out the area of each item’s dimension. We had to draw a ping pong table or a air hockey table but we chose to draw a ping pong table. We had to draw a gaming rug but we added a couple of controllers onto the rug. We also had to draw a beanbag chill out lounge, we had to draw a strip of LED lights on one of the walls, lastly we added a TV because we had some extra space.

The measurement for the ping pong table was 3m x2 m=6m2′. The gaming rugs measurement was

4m x 3m=12m2′, The measurement of The beanbag chill out space was 2m x 2m=4m2′,  measurement of the LED lights were 4m x 2m=8m2′, last but not least the TV was 1m x 3m =3m2′.

After we did all of that we coloured the game room in. 

My tips are: if working with perimeter and area is your first time, ask to do it with another person And always remember that perimeter is the outside and you use addition to add up the measurements.

It was a nice warm sunny day, when a black cat was walking on the street when suddenly there was a HUGE rumble! The cat was very confused and scared the cat knew something was terribly wrong so he went walking to the sound because something’s very fishy..

The sound came from a nearby stream by a Marae so he tried to smell whatevers making the sound then he smelt a fish smell he thinks its coming from the covered stream so he’s scratching the concrete until he heard poutini’s cries so the cat got a person called Whaea Lestine followed the black cat,The black cat asked Aylah to come so the black cat lead them both to the noise Whaea Lestine went to Owae marae with the black cat and Aylah they heard the thumping as well as the black cat but they couldn’t dig out concrete there self so whaea lestine called out to the whole town for help to free poutini! It took Teamwork to help poutini but poutini wasn’t very happy unfortunately he was FURIOUS and he wanted revenge… So he floated back in the sky where all the other Taniwha Atua are, He told them what had happened but they thought it was because of poutini’s clumsiness  he fell into the daylight stream,But he didn’t believe them,The gods tried to pull him back but he was too strong like greenstone so the Atua out of there grip! Then he got every frustration out of him by making it rain!

But then after all of that he bursted out crying while the whole town was flooded… he was very disappointed in himself he’s never lost control like this ever! His brothers and sisters felt guilty so they all came together and hugged Poutini to calm him down but there’s a problem the town was STILL flooding so all the Atua came together using powers at the same time they managed to stop the rain! And everyone in the town was happy but some people died from all the flood…so he apologised to the whole entire town by giving them free food and water for eternity and he thanked everyone but mostly the black cat, Whaea lestine, and Aylah!  THE END.

Daylighting Stream’s

One day there was a Taniwha named Kora living in the Waitara River. It was so peaceful all Kora could hear was the mānu, this was before humans came. Kora was happy with the peace and quiet underneath the Waitara bridge, but then all of a sudden Kora heard something and it wasn’t the mānu it was something Kora had never heard before, Kora had a feeling that humans had arrived and broke the peace and quiet. A few days later Kora overheard a few people named Elena, Leighla, Josh, Jack, and Lily talking about piping streams around Waitara and that made Kora angry but on top of that they were destroying most of the animals habitats. What the people didn’t notice was that Kora could read minds and she knew what their next step was going to be. Those people were planning on inviting all of their friends and whanau to Waitara to live there, and then Waitara’s population grew, then everyone started having fun and jumping off the bridge and into the Waitara river and Kora had to hide when they jumped off the bridge or everyone would spread rumours about a Taniwha called Kora.That won’t happen, said Kora and that never happened and to this day Kora still lives under the bridge and is still a bit angry about the streams, but Kora is getting a little less angry every day because people are talking about daylighting streams, and people looking after streams that need looking after.
