In Module 1, I explored the vital concept of earning money, discovering how an income expands my personal choices by allowing me to buy necessities, save for future goals, and control my own financial decisions. By examining various jobs and tasks, I gained a clear understanding of the direct link between work and income, while also learning to differentiate between key pay structures. I mastered how an hourly rate dictates the fixed amount earned per hour, how wages represent the total variable pay calculated from those accumulated hours, and how a salary provides a fixed, predictable payment on a regular cycle regardless of the exact hours worked. Ultimately, completing this module has given me a much stronger foundation in how earning works, proving that understanding income is a truly essential life skill.

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind – Chapter 1
In Chapter 1 (When magic ruled the world) of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, William describes his life in Malawi. He also begins to show the important role that family, school, and village life play in his world. This chapter sets up the story by giving the reader a clear picture of William’s background and personality.
I found this chapter interesting because William seems very curious and determined. His first-person voice makes the story feel personal and honest, and it helps the reader connect with him. The setting is also important because it shows the difficult conditions in which he lives, while still highlighting his hope and ambition. Overall, the chapter made me want to keep reading because it suggests that William is someone who will face challenges with intelligence and courage.

In this task, I used AI to explore environmental problems like school rubbish, farm pollution, water shortages, declining fish, and lost native habitats. The AI gave me three solutions for each, but it was up to me to decide which ones were realistic and suitable for our local environment. I learned that AI is good for ideas, but we still need human judgement and local knowledge.
I also grouped actions into tiers. Solar panels, wind farms, hydro dams, electric cars, and public transport are S‑Tier because they cut emissions a lot. Recycling, composting, and planting trees are helpful but smaller in impact, so they are A‑Tier. Water restrictions save water but not emissions, so they are B‑Tier.
This showed me that some “good” solutions can create new problems, like dams harming rivers or wrong trees damaging ecosystems. And a good whakataukī for task three that fits this is “Manaaki whenua, manaaki tangata, haere whakamua.” It reminds me that caring for the land and people means thinking carefully about how our choices affect the future.
My goals for this year
My goal for this year is to maintain strong attendance so I can keep progressing and create more opportunities for myself. Being part of the Building Academy gives me a good pathway into the construction industry, and I want to make the most of it by completing my credits.
I am currently waiting to gain my forklift licence, which is worth 14 credits and is very important to me. I am also looking forward to completing the Working at Heights and small motor courses to build my skills further.
I’m proud that my attendance is high—I’m currently at 90% and just need another 10%, which I know I can achieve. Even though this is my last year, I sometimes wish it were my first. Still, I’ve chosen to be here, so I’m going to make the most of it.
Should uniforms be compulsory?
Hello everyone
Today I want to talk about something we deal with every single day, our school uniform. Some students say uniforms create fairness. Others say they crush our self-expression. I believe school uniforms should be compulsory, and I want to explain why.
First, uniforms make things more fair. When everyone is wearing the same clothes, it is harder to tell the differences between people based on what they wear. There is less judging, and less pressure to dress a certain way to fit in. At school, we should be focusing on our work and our friends, not on clothes.
Another benefit is that uniforms make life easier. You do not have to spend ages in the morning trying to choose clothes or stressing about whether other people will judge what you are wearing. You just put on your uniform and get on with your day. That might sound small, but it takes away one more thing to worry about.
I know some people say uniforms stop us from expressing ourselves. Clothes can be one way to show personality, but they are not the only way. We can show who we are through our interests, the subjects we choose, our attitude in class, our sport, our art, our music, and how we treat other people. What matters more is our behaviour, not our outfit.
For these reasons, I think uniforms should stay compulsory. They make school fairer, simpler, and more united. We come to school to learn, not to run a fashion show.
Health term 2
In health we have been learning cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, muscle endurance I cant remember the other one and when I wasn’t here last week the class learned about the bones in the human body.
what i learnt in health
Over the last 4 weeks, I have learned a lot in Health and Physical Education. We learned names of major muscles like the biceps, quadriceps, and hamstrings, and how to stretch them using both static and dynamic movements. Warming up and stretching are crucial to increase body temperature, improve oxygen efficiency, and prevent injuries. I also learned that cardiovascular fitness is measured by Heart Rate in Beats Per Minute (BPM), and you can find your Maximum Heart Rate using the formula i enjoy all of the workouts and i liked all the lessons

Online Learning vs Classroom Learning
Most students have tried online and normal school. Both types have good and bad parts. This essay explains which one works best.
LearningIn-person school makes it easy to learn. You see your teacher face-to-face. You can ask for help immediately. For example, science labs are better in person. You also get to hang out with friends.
However, traditional school has some annoying parts. You have to wake up very early. The schedules are super strict. You cannot just take a break.
Online school gives you a lot of freedom. You can stay in your pajamas all day. You can eat snacks during class. Students can also go at their own pace. If math is confusing, you just rewind.
But online school makes it hard to focus. It is easy to play video games instead. YouTube is always just one click away. Also, bad Wi-Fi can ruin your day. It gets really lonely sitting alone.
In-person learning is definitely more effective for kids. Middle schoolers need to see real people. We need teachers to keep us on track. Online learning is only good for adults.
