Daisy – Guest Speaker

Hello everyone,

Last week on Friday during humanities, we didn’t really do digital work but instead, a guest speaker named Daisy came and we did many activities.

We started off by going around the circle and introducing ourselves while doing a movement, which I found nervous because I didn’t really like getting the attention of everyone and speaking up in front of them. But I did anyway, I introduced myself and waved.

The next activity we did was when everyone sat on a chair and a person in the middle has to say something that’s about them, if others relates to it then they have to find a different chair to sit on, if there’s non then you’d have to be the person in the middle.

We had to find a partner, one has to draw their partner while looking/staring at the partner they’re trying to draw. They both take turns.

We were put into groups and we were given a word which was “Ocean”, then we had to list the words that relate to the ocean. If she points at our group then all members in the group have to say the words on the list without making a mistake.

Lastly, we had the chance to listen to the poem from her, it was certainly inspirational and we appreciate to have her during that period.

That’s it for today, thank you for reading.:)

My Inspiration

My Father

Life/Identity

My dad is a father to 6 children including me, he was born on an island in Samoa called savaii and in savaii he lived in a small village in savaii called Taupuelele. My dad is the oldest of his 8 siblings so he has the responsibility of being the leader and role model to me, my siblings, cousin’s and his siblings. My dad is 45 years old and has a family of 8 including me and him (dad). My dad is the bishop of my church and so he has to look after all the members and people in my church. My dad works all day to provide for me and my family. That is why every time he comes home we always have food prepared for him.

Inspiration

My dad is my inspiration because he is very mature and responsible and looks after everyone in every way he can. I got inspired by him ever since he did something really incredible, here is this story on why my dad is my inspiration.

When I was little about 4 or 5 years old one a Sunday morning me my family and my dad got up early for church when we got there we sat down on our chairs and then I look over to my dad he looked like he was writing something I asked what are you reading then he said he writing a talk for him and I said when are you doing it then he replied and said now I was confused then I looked at his book he had been writing on and it said 2 sentences then I asked him is that your talk and he said not because he hadn’t finished I asked him why and he said he had been very busy with work and family stuff so he couldn’t prepare his talk. Then I heard the bishop asking for my dad to come up now and with no hesitation my dad went up but while he was walking I noticed my dad left his paper on the chair. I rushed to give him it but he said no it was alright. I was confused as to why he said no. I sat down on the front row and listened to him talk. I was surprised that his talk was very beautiful. I looked around and saw everyone crying happy tears. After his talk he came down and sat with me. I asked him if he had memorised his talk and he said he talked from his heart. I hugged my dad tightly, my dad inspired me that day ever since that day I had learned to talk from the heart and walk the path your heart has chosen for you.

Making The Best Elephant Toothpaste

Science Experiment: Elephant Toothpaste

Aim: To see what it’s like when using different kinds of bottles and how the toothpaste would appear.

Hypothesis: If we got a smaller bottle, then the toothpaste would shoot farther

Ingredients:

  • A clean 16 ounce (473 ml) plastic soda bottle or a water bottle.
  • 20-Volume hydrogen peroxide liquid
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 ml –  one packet) of dry yeast
  • 3+ Tablespoons (15 ml) of warm water
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Food colouring
  • Small cup
  • Funnel

Independent variable: Yeast, Water, hydrogen peroxide, dishwashing liquid.

Dependant variable:Different types and sizes of bottle.

Method:

  1. Get a bottle.
  2. Put hydrogen peroxide in the bottle.
  3. Put dishwashing liquid in the bottle.
  4. Mix thoroughly.
  5.  In a separate cup put of dry yeast.
  6. Put warm water in the separate cup.
  7. Mix thoroughly
  8. Put the yeast in the bottle.

What was my science project about? It is about Elephant toothpaste.

What was my hypothesis? If we change the bottle, then the toothpaste would come out differently.

Was it correct? why or why not? Yes, when we used a smaller bottle it shot up way faster than when we used a 1.5L bottle.

What were my variable? My independent variable were yeast, water, hydrogen peroxide and dishwashing liquid. And my dependent variable were different types and sizes of bottle.

What did I find out? I found out that we need more hydrogen peroxide and yeast more so that we can measure how far the toothpaste goes.
