A Trip To Tiritiri Matangi

Imagine crossing the threshold into an enchanted world, greeted by a forest towering before your eyes, ancient trees and wilderness alive with hidden creatures. Behold the beautiful sanctuary of Tiritiri Matangi island, a stunning island of wildlife transformed by volunteers into a pest free paradise.

I woke up at six in the morning because I knew the early bird gets the worm, then got ready in a blink of an eye and then made me a sandwich before I hit the road but when I took a bite of my sandwich, it was like taking a bite of heaven. After eating I awoke my dad up then we dove into the car and sped off as fast as lightning.

As we came to school we all got into our groups then walked in a single file line to the bus. On the bus all of us talked, some laughed and fussed the whole way. Once we got to the fairy we all scrubbed our shoes to keep all dirt off because it will carry bacteria we then hopped aboard and stayed as quiet as flies. 

Once we arrived at Tiritiri matangi we got off and look at birds that got almost extinct and walked on a track we looked at native birds and discovered new ones too before we got to the end and ate lunch before we did activities.

First We went on a trip to Tiritiri Matangi when we got on the boat We need to wash our feet so no Germs or diseases that can hunt the bird Then a couple more hours Teachers said we can eat on morning tea then when your Finished put your Rubbish in the bin. 

Then we got to Tiritiri Matangi we got Split into different groups Each group has different counselors and our counselors Was Peter Then we started walking Sometimes we stop Look up birds and check them off the lis

Next I was tired as a Deflated balloon but We made it to the top  then we grabbed our lunch And start eating Like a lion never ate Then we did some games But my favorite Was the binoculars That is all goodbye 

In the morning when the sun was a big shiny gold coin I got ready as fast as a cheetah when I realized I was running late. When I got to school I played for a little bit until I realized I left my water bottle. But I couldn’t get it, it was to late so I just hopped on the bus and we sped off.

When we got to the city we had to wash our shoes and get a ticket to get on the fairy. On the fairy me and my friends played a game that you need to find yellow objects and say yellow and whatever it is then no returns. but all I could do is hear my belly rumble. But then one off my friends said we could eat so I feasted on two packets of chips.

So when we got to Tiritiri Matangi we got our conservation officer to look after us and we started walking. but while we were walking he told us a story. “Tiritiri Matangi is not what you think it was 40 years ago.

“Tiritiri Matangi wasn’t always birds singing in harmony and joy spreading through the place like a silver bullet”, the conservation officer said.  Let me tell you what Tiritiri Matangi was like 40 years ago. Tiritiri Matangi was a wild farm with cows winning as loud as the howling wind, the cats biting the people in the ankles and the dogs barking for as long as a decade or even more. But the most thing the conservation officers hated about Tiritiri Matangi being a Farm is that whenever the cows, dogs, cats, or even sheep came the people riding the fairy would always have a complaint once they got off the fairy.

So the conservation officers decided to make it a unique and beautiful island. But to get that they needed countless trees and that would take millions of years. So they got millions of kids to plant billions of trees. So then the days went on and soon the place became the most beautiful island in the world. And so they brought the most beautiful, rare birds and the trees are now as tall as the sky tower. And so Tiritiri Matangi is a safe environment for birds to live in.

Tiritiri Matangi Island Trip

Imagine stepping into a real-life paradise where the air is a symphony of birdsong. Tiritiri Matangi Island is a breath of fresh air and a sanctuary like an open-air haven for nature lovers. Free from pests, this island is a vibrant tapestry of lush native bush and safe habitats. On Wednesday 21 October, my class Rm8 and I got to hit the trail and experience the magic of Tiritiri Matangi Island firsthand.

On a bright morning where the sun was a golden coin in the sky, we set off bright and early like eager explorers on an adventure. My class and Rm8 arrived at 7:30 on the bus and everyone was more excited than a kid on Christmas morning. On the bus the classes were a zoo making a whole lot of noise; some were singing, some were moving around, and some were very tired because they had to wake up early like early birds catching the worm.

Once we arrived at the ferry, everyone was like a wild zoo, screaming and shouting, but the teachers managed to pour oil on troubled waters and settled them down. Once we were calm, we had to scrub our shoes and spray them clean to ensure we didn’t bring any unwanted hitchhikers or pests onto the island. Once everyone boarded the ferry, we claimed our seats and watched the harbor glide past like a calm sheet of glass.

When we set foot on Tiritiri Matangi, the instructor took the reins and introduced our guides, dividing us into small groups so we could explore every look and cranny of the island together in our small groups.

We looked at different types of birds like the pukeko and the hihi. My favourite bird was the Hihis and the rare ones are the males.

I had a very great experience at Tiritiri Matangi Island even the classes had a very great time and I hope we can do that again.

On a Wednesday morning full of burst and cold, my class and another had a chance to go on a fun trip to Tiriti matangi, a beautiful paradise full of birds that live and rest in peace. I haven’t gone on a fairy ride before but going on it for the first time was exciting!.

Before we had arrived at the island both of the classes had gone on a bus to get to the destination we were going to meet at. As we arrived in Auckland city all classes got into groups to wait for their turn to clean their shoes. Not cleaning your shoes before getting onto the fairy can cause diseases onto the fairy or the island.

As we walked down to the boat with help by a ramp, our class patiently waited for the other people to go in just for respect. As we sat down on the seats inside of the fairy it felt exciting even for first timers. As the fairy started it moved slow as a snail even an ant can move faster than that.

It took us 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to the island. As we got there we all sat down to hear what the rules were. The first rule was to not feed your lunch to a native bird on the island, The second rule was to not take any shells or rocks they stay on the island, Last rule was to enjoy it, have fun and listen to your guardians.

Our mission was to get on top of the island before the other groups. We started by learning about birds and what happened to the island before it was even a paradise full of native birds like kokako and the female and male hihi.

As we walked up the mountains we had a karakea (prayer) before we ate our lunch. Eating our lunch was the pest part. As we finished each group had activities like jenga, detective and the best activity was looking in the binoculars by the light house. Finally leaving shore with a beautiful waiata and going home.

It was a fun experience of going onto an island full of birds before we got on the both we said a goodbye and a thank you to the people who guided us. That was a fun time with my class and the others I hope we go again.

One day we went for a Trap to Tiritiri Matangi Island so we got a bus to the City so we could get a ferry to go on the boat so we went to Tiritiri Matangi We have to be at school by 7:30 in the Morning and we were back at school 5:00.

On wednesday we went to tiritiri six thirty o’clock me and my sister woke up,had breakfast and got ready then we walked to school,once we got to school i saw my cousin Majahsty  so i went to say hi to her

Then other people started coming and I saw my friends and I went to hug her.Then we went to walk around till all of the people in room 8 and 9 came and we got split into groups of four,then went to the bus.

Once we got to the place we lined up in our four groups and let the visitors go first and scrubbed the dirt and bacteria off of our shoes and finally went on the ferry to tiritiri matangi. On the ferry me and my friends slept on the ferry.

Our first stop was gulf harbour and finally tiritiri matangi.when we got to tiritiri matangi we got off the ferry and sat on the ground,then we said our welcoming words and said our prayer and got into our groups and walked around,then we got a clipboard and went on a mission to find birds.

After finding all of the birds we were finding puppets and got told to come and eat our lunch.After our lunch we got split up into two groups and did more activities.After all of the activities we said our goodbyes and we went back onto the ferry and went back to school.when we got back to school we all went home and fell asleep.

On wednesday we went to tirirtiri Matangi and we got in groups and we went for a walk around the island and birds and we had to do a line 5 you cross them and after that we went to get our bag and went to the down bottom of the floor and we ate after that we went into groups to play some games and the game is call footprint and the next was block game and we had to take it out of it and the game was fun.

My Tiritir matangi trip

On Wednesday my school had a trip to Tiritiri matangi  so first we had to be there at 7:30 and we got on the bus at 7:45 to go to the city. The drive was for 60 minutes and once we got to the city we all had to line up and scrub our shoes.

Then when we got on the big bout it started to go up and down and when we started to move it felt like it was moving slow but it was moving  really fast and the bout ride was 90 minutes so to pas the time I joked with my friends and after we got there.  An instructor told us the rules that you can’t take anything with you back and if you do you will by in trouble.

For todays Cybersmart challenge we had to become investigative zoologist and uncover some weird, bizzare and crazy fact behind our amazing animal life. I worked with two of my friends, Crisriel and Victoria and we chose to do our slideshow on the marine animal; Blue-Ringed Octopus. This was task was a bit complicated because we kept getting confused on what link to use it took us awhile to find a reliable source to get our information from. Overall I think we did an amazing job and good luck on our little quiz!

Tree talk

Part 2 if it was fantasy

“There’s no way out of here!” Ruby cried and the competition was almost starting and she had nothing to present. “I told you this was all your fault!” Sefa said angrily it was silent, it was just the sound of wind gushing to Sefa and Ruby’s faces. “We’ll never get out of here! We’ve been walking in circles and now we have no energy!” Sefa said annoyed. Just then Ruby looked up and saw towering branches up high “Hey! Maybe we can climb up the Matai tree and get some berries! So that we can have enough energy and find our way out! ”. “Thats actually not a bad idea!” Said Sefa. So they started climbing but no matter how hard they tried they just kept falling and just lost more of their energy. “That was a waste of time! It just wasted all of our energy! Now I’m even more tired!” Sefa cried. So Ruby screamed begging for help “HELLO SOMEBODY THERE!? PLEASE HELP WE’RE LOST!”. They sat there feeling hopeless but they heard something rustling through the bushes then they saw their mother from far away then hope came back “MUM OVER HERE WE’RE HERE!!” Sefa and Ruby cried “Kids!” their mother cried then ran into their mothers arms crying “I’ve been looking everywhere for you guys! Where have you been!?” “We were lost!” Ruby cried then Ruby realised there was more time for the competition and she knew exactly what to present about because while shouting she noticed that saplings were dying then her mother drove her to the competition just in time!

AT COMPETITION!

Ruby took one look at the stage she was next. She took a big deep breath then the announcer called her name “Now take a big round of applause for… RUBY!”. She took another deep breath and stepped onto the stage “Hi! My name is Ruby and I will be presenting to always keep the environment clean. This is why you should keep the environment clean and to reuse and recycle. Reason 1. We should keep the environment clean and healthy so that trees can have a nice and a clean place to stay. Reason 2. You can reuse and recycle to help the environment. You can create beautiful stuff out of it! Even a gift! Reason 3. You should always keep the sea clean so that the sea animals won’t get hurt. Now last but not least the last reason. We should keep the environment clean so it can be a clean and wonderful place! So that some stuff in the environment can’t be polluted. Now the last thing is to be sustainable so that new plants can grow and be healthy! That is the end of my presentation bye!”. When a couple of people went and presented, the announcer went up the stage “Wow! We heard some great presentations but the winner is drumroll please! It is….. RUBY!” Ruby was shocked then ran up to the podium and she was given a basket with treats and the crowd went wild with applause then once it was done everyone had some hotdogs! Then Ruby and her family headed home and everyone was celebrating. 

As I ride my bike I past the beautiful flower shinning as bright as botton.

I stare at the walls in the hallway in the alleyway, I hear big bad dogs bark as loud as a lion while biking down the stiep hill.I smelt beautiful flowers and say, ”HMM that smells good!” The mean gardener heard what i said and yelled, ”BOO! NOW SHOO OR ELSE!” I got frightened and left.

When day becomes night light flashes before your eye, you see a gobin grab gold from is bag fight then grab the bag full with gold then you become the new king/qea but one day you become greedy and shdow grow big and big then all of the peopl grab you trow youn in a pit with spik and you woke up and went back to sleep
