Today we had KPMG come to Edmund Hillary school, they came to room 1 and 2, their names were Tanner, Ellie, Martha and Poppy. There were four of them in each class. They came to teach us about finances, saving money and also how to use money. They also gave us a booklet to write on. They all helped us when doing the quizs and learning what are the difference between Wants and Needs. Wants are like things you want but don’t need, for an example loilles, snacks, devices are wants but not needs. Needs are like things you really need like food, shelter just thing you need to survive. We did a quiz about what they teached us to see who was listening then we had to stand were we think the answer is, there were ten questions all together, if we got a question right we got a loille, everyone got one at the end so no one was left out. After every thing two students came and gave a speech to the KPMG for ever thing they did for us all these years. We made them cards that we signed before they came to our class. They were really happy about the cards.

On Monday, we had to check on our plants for both hydroponic and traditional soil planting. After that we write our observations on the two plants, my hydroponic wasn’t really growing and I still haven’t figured out why. Besides that we had to something edible and interesting.

You know when drinks fizz? yes that’s what we’re trying to recreate, the fizz, the sourness and sweetness; like the lollies that pop inside your tongue when its untouched with saliva? we made it like that, but more different. Something like gunpowder and finger dipping.

Firstly we got given a paper on which recipe we wanted to do; either citric acid or baking soda. I chose citric acid because I didn’t really know what baking soda was gonna be? We also had to wrote a hypothesis and get three cups. About the recipe, there was three.

Recipe A: control 1:1 (  same amount of citric acid and baking soda, sweet and sour )

Recipe B: High bass ( more citric acid than baking soda )

Recipe C: High Sugar ( more amount of sugar combined with both citric acid and baking soda )

For my own opinion, recipe C uses e

xtra sugar for sweet, nostalgic candy powder, especially for A.  I didn’t really like B because it was sour and tasted a little bitter.

Mixing citric acid and baking soda creates that fizz because it’s an acid-base reaction that releases carbon dioxide when it touches moisture or saliva.

Lastly, It was yum because it tasted like Raro but lime flavored. I’m hoping to recreate it next time when I can. Thank you!

Yes we should have a separate pg to our the year 7&8 pg and we can play with other friend and to make new friend and and tell them what you like and what you like to do and play with the new size and we can be the one to play on the pg we need one because we can go on it everyday but if there is no one on the pg we can be the one on thee pg if the year&6 is not on it we can go on the page but there is one thing the ye&6  Is not allowed is the zip line is not for the ye&6 it is for the y&8 but the pg is for the ye&8 will like a pg for our school but it is the ye&8 and the ye&6.

Why do we need a pg to our sauce?

Because we need move people to play and move thing for the ye&8 because they need move pg in our school for the little people to play and they need Space in the playground is the thing we need because we need one to play and make new friends and we can do move thing like play on the pg and basketball if they like o play i have this one friend he name is just and he like playing basketball but all the time 

Greetings & Salutation viewers, today in this blog I will be discussing my experience at Tech today. So come with me on this experience of summarizing my experience at Tech today.

In the afternoon, as usual room 9 and 10 lined up in separate groups representing the tech crew. And when we stood up we started to march over to Papakura intermediate. Now this was an every-Monday sort of programme that we do every Monday at least once a week. So we walked past the aromatic bakeries and made our towards the school. Once we arrived we went into our separate lines once again & stood there waiting patiently for our Tech teachers. So for about 5 minutes, our teacher ” Erika ” finally came to our group and trailed us towards our usual classroom.

Then once the door was opened we rushed inside and put our bags towards the end of the wall, and immediately went to check our potted plants. My plant for hydroponics was only growing 3 little sad sprouts, but for traditional soil planting, my plant was growing successfully into about a 5 centimeter estimated plant. So we sat down and were ready to start off our session. My focus went to the whiteboard instantly and saw the creative letter ” Steam ” wrote out in different ecosystems, if you know what I mean. But I snapped myself back into focus, and started to listen to the seperate topics.

So we got a random paper-sheet full of questions and descriptions, but as I was reading it, our teacher started to talk about what we needed to do, and how we had to do this worksheet. Now I could obviously tell that it was a comparison towards the fizz measurements of every cup. So we saw the ingredients right behind us, and we started getting excited. So we grabbed three cups and wrote the measurements of each ingredients in the front base of the cup. So we made our way towards the ingredients and followed the measurements. And once we were finished I had no idea what to do next, so I predicted that we had to add water, because our ingredients were really dry. But surprisingly we were allowed to eat it raw, because it was supposed to be like that, otherwise known as “sherbert”

So we gathered more of our cups and filled them with different measurements and started to write our observations in our worksheets. Our cups were marked with letters A. B. & C. So in conclusion, my favorite well-balanced powdery sherbert was letter c, not because of the sweetness, but because of the satisfying fizz. So in STEAM we did an edible science adventure, and I hope that we get to do this in the future. Inclusive, I loved today’s session.

WALT: Share our opinion about Scribo and Class Companion and how it helps me with my writing.

Before using Scribo and Class Companion, I wasn’t always confident with my writing. Sometimes I knew what I wanted to say but didn’t know how to put it into words. I would also sometimes get stuck and not know what else to add. Writing could be hard when I had lots of ideas but didn’t know how to explain them properly.

For our KPMG visit, we had to write a persuasive letter to Whaea Lorraine about why we should be allowed to visit KPMG. My class and I were really excited because we wanted to learn about what happens inside a big international company. We also wanted to learn more about careers because some of us have big career aspirations, like becoming accountants or industry advisors.

When we went to KPMG, it was cool seeing what we had been talking about in real life. We got to learn more about the company and the different types of careers that could be possible for us in the future. It made me think more about what I might want to do when I’m older and how school can help me get there.

After 3 days of using Scribo, I feel more excited about writing because I can see my writing and what I can improve. I enjoy using it because it helps me notice things that I didn’t notice before. Class Companion also helped me because I could get feedback and look at my writing differently.

Whaea said, “It’s not always getting 100%; it’s more about improving our writing and enjoying it too.” I agree with this because writing isn’t always about getting everything perfect. It’s about improving and learning from what you have already written.

In my opinion, the KPMG visit was a really good experience because it helped me think about my future, while Scribo and Class Companion are helping me become a better writer.

WALT: Explain what parts of the Warriors Foundation HAGD were and why.

Kia Ora, everyone!

Today my class and I did Karakia and said good morning to our lovely teachers. We talked about technology and then we did some other notices before we went outside to visit the Warriors for Have a Go Day.

When we got there, they introduced themselves to us. There was Liam, Alicia and Gayle. They explained what we were going to do and then we started the different activities. We also took a photo with them, which was cool because we got to have a picture with the Warriors Foundation team. We also had a girls photo with Alicia, which was really nice.

My favourite part of the Warriors Have a Go Day was the wheelchair activity. We got to play sports while sitting in a wheelchair, and it was so funny. It was actually really easy to move around in the wheelchair. Playing sports in it was funny because everyone was moving around and trying their best.

We also had a punishment with Liam because the winners got to pick what the punishment was. They chose for us to sing the ABCs while doing burpees. It was actually so funny because we had to keep doing the burpees while singing the whole alphabet. It was tiring but everyone was laughing and trying to finish it.

I think the activities were important because they helped us have fun, work together and try new things. The wheelchair activity also showed us another way people can play sports and still have fun.

Overall, my favourite part was definitely playing sports in the wheelchair because it was really fun and funny. I also enjoyed meeting Liam, Alicia and Gayle, taking photos with them and doing the activities with my class. The Warriors Have a Go Day was a really fun experience and I’m glad I got to have a go.

Kumusta, everyone!

At STEM last week (24/08/26), we talked about technology and looked at our plants. My plant didn’t really grow much. It only grew one single leaf, but it was a little one. Haji’s plant, on the other hand, grew really fast and tall. So, I think traditional soil works better because the plant looked healthier and grew faster. After looking at everyone’s plants, we talked about which way works the best for growing plants and what makes them healthy and grow faster.

We also talked about our Father’s Day cards because Father’s Day is on Sunday, 6 September. The laser cutter takes a long time to design everyone’s cards, so my tech teacher said she would put them in our mailbox. A crazy fact is that I thought our school didn’t even have a mailbox because I had never seen it before. My teacher told us that every school had one, and we all said that we didn’t have one. Then she said we did, so we were like, “Okay then.” After that, we moved on and talked about the next thing.

My team and I also made a cage for the alien using EPro 8 supplies. I mainly used everything except the string, cord, rope, and plastic spur gears. At first, it was really hard to put everything together because I didn’t really know what I was doing. But after trying a few times, I got more confident and it became easier for me. Me and my team made a Lamborghini-style door for the alien. We weren’t finished with the roof and the bars, but we still did our best to make it work. It was really hard putting everything together, but I think our team did a good job.

this week in writing we’ve been learning about persuasive.

This week the year 6’s from my class and Room 1 have been learning about perimeter and length. We have learnt the different types of lengths like centimeter, millimeter, decameter, meter, kilometer, and even more! We have also learnt how to find the perimeter in a shape.

You can find a perimeter in a shape by:
1. Measuring all of the sides to find the length of each side, then you add all of the numbers together to find the perimeter!.

Anyways, today, I have finished my Interactive sheet in Oxford Digital on my Chromebook. I had to find the perimeter in each shape shown.

Kia Ora/Hello the year 6 has been learning about Length and Perimeter and today we had to do a test about Length and Perimeter.

So i am going to show you my results from doing a Length and Perimeter test, I am also going to talk about how I got the answer.

This is my results.

How I got the answer: first I know that if the top is 5 cm then I know that the bottom is 5 so I add them together to get 10, then I looked on the sides one of them have 2 so I know that the other side is 2 so then I add them together to 4 then I add 4 and 10 together to get the answer. On the second one I just added all of the numbers up to get the answer. and that is how I got all the answers.

Perimeter means around the area and length the distance from one to the other one. I got full marks because i add all of them up, and thats how Length and Perimether works.
