AUT Millennum.

This week we went to AUT Millennium for a day of EOTC activities and had a lot of fun learning many skills and challenging ourselves. My group did Kayaking, Boat Rescues, Rock Climbing and Track. It was fun to be learning and having fun at the sametime well being able to do the activists and to reach your goal. My favourite thing to do that day was kayaking because we got to learn what a raft up is which is where everyone gets together and holds onto each others kayaks and when we did and got pushed out into the water we got to take turns standing and either dancing or saying something. It was a huge opportunity to go that day and we all are very grateful to have been able to go and we enjoyed it all.

AUT millenium EOTC day

Our school recently went on an exciting trip to AUT Millennium, an impressive sports and training facility where many athletes come to train. At the beginning of the day, we were split into four groups, and I was in Group 2. We travelled there by bus and arrived at around 9:30. Our first activity was in the swimming pool area, where we learnt lots about water and kayak safety. We practised important skills such as huddling, linking, and chaining together, as well as learning how to safely get on and off the kayak. We also learnt about capsizing, how to hold a paddle correctly, and which way the paddle should face.

After that, we took part in some fun fitness activities. We started with a 400-metre run and then played lots of games that tested our teamwork, memory, and reaction skills. One game involved being split into two teams and memorising something on the other side of a wall before trying to recreate it. Another game involved passing a squeeze from person to person, and when it reached the last person, they had to quickly run and jump onto a soft platform. These activities were lots of fun and showed us how fitness can involve teamwork and thinking as well as exercise.

Our final activity was rock climbing, where we learnt how to climb safely and work together. There were three people at each climbing wall: One person was the climber, one person was responsible for holding the rope, and the other person helped by gently pulling the rope. This activity required trust, teamwork, and listening carefully to the safety instructions. Overall, our trip to AUT Millennium was a really fun and exciting experience. We learnt many new skills, stayed active, and worked together throughout the day, making it a trip that I really enjoyed.

Our Day At AUT Millinnium

Yesterday , was a day for us , to go to AUT Millennium , to experience , fun there , and also to see some people that are from the olympics , training there . The drive there was long , but when we got there , we streched outside , and listened to the rules , that the coaches were telling us about . Once that was done , we walked inside , and got straight into our first session , Rock Climbing . After was running outside on the track, we played a game , where we had to follow the rules , the coach said , like right around , up , down , or around . after the game , we walkrd back inside , to play game , on where we had to balance on marshmellows , and not fall off , otherwise , we would become hot chocolate . Our team celebrated , because we won , and we played tug of war after. Our team were tied , for the first round , and then we won , in the second round . When it was finished , we went to baton racing , where we had a few of our teamates waiting on half of the track , to run back after , once we had reached them , and passed the baton to them . I went first , and I passed my opponent , and passed my baton to my teamate , which ran back fast . So we sat down , to prepare once all our team was on the side , I was on . We beat our opponents , and met up with our teacher , so we could walk up to the eating area , where we had our morning tea . After we finished eating , we went to the changing rooms , to change into our swimming suits , for kayaking , and swimming . We sat down on the chairs , in front of the pool , while listening to the coach , and what rules we had to go over . After that , we went to where the life jackets were , so we could wear them . Once done , we went back to the chairs , and the coach called one of us at a time , to demonstrate how we would get out of the water , when our boat flipped . I was the 4th one to go , and when i flipped , water went into my nose . So I quickly went above the water , to breathe . Then I shortly made my way out of the pool . Once everyone had a turn , we got straight into our kayaks , and were pushed into the water, while we were still in the kayaks. We paddled our kayaks for a few minuites , until we were called , to come out of the water , so we could move to our next lesson . Our next lesson was about water safety. After our coach talked to us , she grabbed a mini floatable boat , where all of us , could sit on it . Once all of us were on it , we had to fall back into the water . So we all went , and when I went , I felt like I had swallowed water . So i quickly swam up , to let the water out . Then , our lesson was done . So we all hopped out , and went straight to the changing rooms . After we changed , we waited outside , in front of the pools , for the rest of our class . Once everyone was out , we walked out of the swimming room , and into the hallway , where we had to sit on the floor , and wait for the coaches , to give us a farewell . After the coaches came , Two of my classmates ,stood up , to say thank you , on behalf of the whole class . We clapped at the end . The coaches also spoke to us at the end , and said how awesome our behaviour was . After they finished speaking , we said thank you , and walked out of the building . We did roll call after we were outside , so we could hop onto the bus , back to school . After the roll was finished , we all, hopped onto the bus , and sat on the seats , while we were going back to school , to eat our lunch there .After we got back , we were all exhausted , so we went upstairs to our class , and we got our food , and went outside to eat it . After eating it , we went inside , to pack up the class for the day . After packing up , we all sat on the mat , while our teachers talked to us . Soon , the bell rang for hometime , so we said good afternoon to our teachers , and we shortly walked out .

EOTC Day at AUT Millennium

On thursday our class  went to AUT Millenium and had lots of fun with the activites given to us, we did lots of things including: Swimming, Team athelitcs and rock climbing, . Our groups fist activity was Survival swimming, when we started with swimming on water that was 2 meters deep but once we ho the hang of it, it wassnt that scary it was scary but the litreal whole point of this was so we could get comfortable in the water and know exactly what to do in a real emergency. This specifc task was very fun as we got to actually save people and jump off a boat also we got a tip from our coach saying that if we all cuddle up then or body heat will get trapped and wont escape we tried this while we were and two litreal meters on water luckily we used the life jackets for us.Our Next activity was kayaking  it was very hard because we had to paddle with a very heavy stick WITH the water slowing the stick down it was very hard but at the end we all had fun, The scary thing about this was about how when we started with being intentionally capsized but actually when we tried it we never drowned or died heh just a joke For our third activity, we tackled rock climbing. Before hitting the wall, we sat down to learn the safety basics, including how to fit our harnesses and how the belayer secures the rope from the bottom. When it was my turn to climb, I managed to make it halfway up the wall! Our final session was packed with sports and games. We started by stretching and running a 400-metre race on the track. Afterward, we headed into the gym for some team games. First, we played ‘Electric Fence’, a fast-paced game where a quick squeeze passed down the line triggered us to sprint. We finished the day with a classic game of ‘Red Light, Green Light’, freezing whenever the coach called “red” and racing forward on “green”. Overall, it was an awesome day filled with fun and heaps of laughter.

AUT Millenium

Yesterday LS2 went to AUT Millenium and had a day of activities, we did kayaking, survival swimming, rock climing, and activities.

My groups first activity was kayaking, at the start of this activity we started with being purposely capsized, this is so that we would get comfortable with the water and would know what to do when it would really happen. This task was very fun as we got to paddle and use the kayak.

My second activity was survival swimming which we did in the same groups, for this we practiced getting into huddle on land so that we would know what to do in the water, as we got into the water we all huddled up as a group just as we practiced on land.

My third activity was rock climbing, for this  one we sat down at first at was taught all the things that would happen, like harnessing 0n to the rope, and our belayer to the bottom of the rope, when I climbed the rock wall I could only make it to half way of the wall.

My last activity was sport activities and games, to start of this activity we stretched and did a race, the track was four hundred meters so I was told. After that race we went inside to the gym to play games, our first game was eletric fence and for this we felt eachothers squeeze which triggered us to run or we would be squeezed and we squeezed the person next to us, our final game was green light red light where we would stop when our coach said red light and go when our coach said green light.

My overall day was very fun and filled with laughter.

AUT Millennium

Yesterday, the Year 7 and 8s from Panmure Bridge School headed out for an awesome day at AUT Millennium in Rosedale, up on the North Shore. We split into four groups and hopped on the bus for a 40-minute drive.

Once we got there, Groups 1 and 2 started with kayaking and water safety, swapping over when they finished their lessons. Meanwhile, Groups 3 and 4 headed to rock climbing and athletics. Throughout the day, we all got a turn at every activity. It was such a cool trip, and we were super lucky to go!

Here is what we got up to:

  • Water Safety: We learned how to huddle up in the water. This keeps everyone together and stops you from getting too cold.

  • Kayaking: We had a go at paddling around freely and learned what to do if your kayak flips over (capsizes).

  • Rock Climbing: We strapped into safety harnesses and took turns scaling the climbing wall.

  • Athletics: We ran a 400-metre race, did some relay races, and played a bunch of fun games.

It was a epic day out where we learned heaps of useful survival skills and tried out some new sports!

Saimonjit Cybersmart Tigers

Kia Ora! Today I wanted to inform you guys about my favourite animal: A Tiger! I have made an information poster about a Tiger to let you guys know about it. The hardest part in doing this was finding the facts. I don’t really know that much about a Tiger, so I researched about it and put it on here. The thing I liked in this activity was  choosing what to write about. We could write about lots of things, so I picked my favorite animal. I will probably research more about Tigers because I like them. I will probably research more about Tigers because I like them.
