Tin Poem

Recently in class, we created a “tin poem”. This was part of a nationwide activity where thousands of students also participated in this activity but we aren’t sure of what their poems are. We are waiting for ours to be delivered.

A tin poem is when you grab a random object out of a tin and write what you can see on it and what you can feel.

The tin was in a box, on the box it said “THIS BOX CAN WRITE 96,000 POEMS”

After doing this activity I have learned how to make a poem!

                                                       Tin Poem

So our teacher Ms Brown signed us up for this write your own poem thing and we got a package later on.  My class didn’t know what was going on.  Apparently about 96,000 other people are doing the same and that’s a heck of a lot of people. Our class decided to make a warm up poem about the colour blue and how we did that is Ms Brown made a doc and shared to us.  We had to all make one sentence each about the colour blue example: as blue as the sea or blue like the man’s gumboots.   After we did that  we were given a random object that we had to describe.  I had to think of 40 words to describe a dinosaur.  Once you come up with your 40 words you then had to pick 20 of your favourite ones.  After going through  all of that you had to come collect 20 bits of paper,  with the paper you just had to play with it and arrange to look good,  they didn’t have to make sense either it just had look like it all fitted.  After all of that you had to copy it on to a card and hand it in.  Ms Brown then sent them to a school in Auckland.  We are currently waiting for cards back from another school.     

 Process: First I had to write 40 words to describe a small compass that I was given, then i had to pick my 20 favourite words. After that I wrote them down on a draft piece of paper to see which order I liked most. Next I got the yellow card to do my proper poem on (as seen above) and wrote my poem in gold pen. Next I coloured the back of the card mostly gold with a tad bit of red. Finally I put my poem with the rest and read it out to the class. Ms Brown approved of it so now it’s ready to be sent away😉😁

• Firstly, each student got given an object to write about.
• We also got given a practise paper for our desciptive wow words.
• Next, We had to come up with 18 wow words that described our object.

1. We got given a fabric bag with an item in it.
2. Then we had to guess what was in it.
3. And then take the item out and i got a plastic sapphire.
4. Then write 20 words describing how it felt or looked and 1 anagram.
5. We then had to write down the words on the postcard that you get. There were 32 postcards in total. When you put them together, they made an image saying write your own story.

Get NZ Writing
My poem was number 17 and my object was a Chinese coin or a good luck coin. We coloured in the  backs  and put them in order. We had to create an anagram. My anagram for good luck coin was cloud cooking. To come up with the words for my poem, I came up with word to describe my object and then I had to write them down on paper.

I really enjoyed watching the films !!

 The first show is called Troll.  It was about a kid having a hard life because he got bullied at school, and he had his own Troll that wanted to eat him. When we saw this show it was held in an auditorium. The seating quality was pretty good in my opinion, there were two actors and they were both really good. The actors were realy convincing, and motivating, and funny.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The second show we went to is a comedy show, it had a lot of different stories,  like one about a fast ninja, and another one about a person that cleans windows, and got stuck on a window cleaner platform. I did not like the seating – you had to sit on a rubber ground, and everyone was squished. But the acting was pretty good, there were two really flexible people.⭐⭐⭐

one thing i enjoyed about the ceremony was.
singing and learning stuff i don’t know.

one thing that i learnt at the ceremony was.
when they told us that the boat sunk 102 years ago.

• blaming others for problems.

• pushing and shoving others when selecting equipment.

• keeping the best equipment to yourself.

• calling other students names/put downs.

• intentionally leaving students out of game or annoying someone.

• laying up for relieving teachers.

and level 1 that’s what one of my levels are at level 1:self control but uninvolved.

• does not think of others when making choices.

• not prepared and disorganised-wasting class time.

• talks!does not work!does not help class work environment.

• generally off-task.

• not following instructions-letting your group down.

and this is also one of my levels level 2: involvement.

• only doing what is asked and nothing else.

• only working to a minimum standard.

• needs frequent reminders.

• concerned only for self.

what I am trying to get myself into level 3:

• tidying the room without being asked.

• being helpful and a good listener.

• trying hard to improve skills by having a go.

• trying to be a good role model for others.

• follows instructions.

• completing work and managing time well.
