Helpful Maths Equipment
In Maths learning this week. We explored some helpful maths equipments to help our maths learning.
We used unifix cubes, counters, a 1–120 chart, number lines, multiplication tables, and place value charts.
Students worked out different maths equipments, trying out each to solve addition, subtraction, and multiplication problems. It was great to see them thinking hard, using strategies, and talking about their ideas.
We are also worked out our own 1-120 number chart. I had so many successful learners who enjoyed doing it! Connor worked by himself and he completed in 7 minutes! Ka pai, Connor!
We’re learning that maths isn’t just about getting the answer – it’s about finding the best way to solve a problem and explaining our thinking. Ka pai, team!


Text Coverage/ Reading taskboards
While the last 3 weeks of school haven’t felt like an ideal time to put lots of things into practice for a variety of reasons, I’ve still managed to tick lots off my ‘to do’ list.
In all honesty, my text coverage/ workbook isn’t completely up to scratch, as this is the one thing I’ve found quite overwhelming. It is large and contains so much information, even though it makes sense as to what it is for – I also don’t like having to scroll across/ down a computer screen. I have collated texts of different genres that link to our theme Whenua, and although there’s not a great many of them, it has been enough to kick start our topic, our class wide introduction to the use of taskboards, as well as rolling out the Ground Rules for Talk to all my reading groups. My anchor text was complex for some therefore required a different approach for each group, and next time I would make better use of AI platforms that could simplify texts. Something I must also balance better is Talk Rules alongside the topic as well as the reading learning intention. It’s easy to be sidetracked by one! Although I know I haven’t quite completed all the tasks fully, I feel that I’m on the right track and things are clear in my head with where I need to go next.
However, despite the things I could have done better (and will endeavour to do moving forward), I feel there have been many successes. During the holidays, I spent some time setting up a reading corner. While it still looks a little unfinished, the plan is to have the students contribute to this space, making it their own. Currently there are novels and picture books, but I would like them to be able to decide what other types of books are there. I would like there to be a space where they can recommend books to others, through a book review or something similar. The tree is currently low on leaves, however each time a student completes reading a book, they are to write the book title and author on a leaf and add it to out tree. Their broad goal is to cover our tree in so many leaves that I need to add more branches! We have spoken about working towards a goal of so many leaves (the number to be set) and if we hit that number within a certain frame, there will be a reward (yet to be decided as a class). The students seem very keen.

I introduced taskboards across all reading groups only this week but they seem to be a success. I have tidied up the format I originally used, finding my new format to be clear and easy to follow. The students quickly figured out how they work, and knew what they were meant to be doing at all times, which meant their self-managing was better than usual. My teacher notes were directly underneath which made organisation for each session easy.

Last, but not least, my biggest success has been one of my boys who often disengages from his mahi because its ‘boring’. On Monday, he was sent with his group to the library to choose his own novel. He came back, asked if I could please get him a bookmark so he could keep track of where he got to. He handed his book in, then asked if he could have it back so he could take it home to read. I flicked his mum a message, and she replied saying it was the first thing he talked about when he got in the car. On Wednesday, when everyone went to morning tea, he came and got his novel and sat in the reading corner for 20 minutes.
Winning them over, slowly but surely!!

Wednesday Water task Week one
Task description:Today I have completed Wednesday’s Water Task for today. This was about finding more than less than to 1000, and understanding number patterns to 1000. Earth Sun Moon Create Task T2W1
Task description: today I did our create task for the week we learned about the sun the earth the moon how they work together and individually like how the earth orbits the sun and moon orbits around the earth in that formation. I really enjoyed our tasks for this week they were fun but also really good way to learn about the different phases not just all of them but also the moon of the different shapes.

Task Description: KIA ORA EVERYONEE!! Welcome back to my blog, as you guys know it the first week of term 2. For today’s subject we are doing reading and for today we are learning about our Solar System. We are basically learning about outerspace for the term. Yesterday I did this Response to text i was answering questions about the sun and the moon. Also had to do 5 facts of either the moon or the sun. I chose the sun and did you know that The Sun has many layers it also has spots and no moons.

Task Description: today me and my group started out with a fresh start of the term. I was really on the first day ready for our work and was thinking of so much I was like a TV overheating. this task was fun and I can wait for the tasks that are awaiting me ahead of my journey!!!

The adventurous campers set camp at the bottom of the snowy mountain, the aurora light flashes its neon beauty upon the campers as they set up a tent; the tent glows of a bright light exposing the colour yellow. The soft, fresh snow blinds the mountain from seeing the glimmering stars in the mauve sky. The cool breeze feels enlightening, while the campers caught the smell of the natural air. Imagine, the stars giving the sound of chimes being played.

Task description.Today on Photopea I drew a rocket ship flying all the way to the sun it was really fun.I learned how to animate on my picture.

This is my camp green lake I was acting like Stanley from the movie holes here is the steps I took.

- we had to build were Stanley go’s for nothing
- we also had to screen cast it so now yousn can look and watch it.
ZMR Science: Recap of Term 1 Paper Plane Experiment
Last term in Science, we learned about the scientific method.
The last thing we did, was designed an experiment using Paper planes.
My group decided to test: The best paper plane for going far distances.

Last Term
Last term we learned about the Scientific methods.
The last thing we did was design and experiment what the best paper plane was.
I decided to go for distance, and it turns out that the basic paper plane goes the furthest on a non windy day.
It is very blurry sorry.
I was meant to have 3 pictures but I did not have time to get the third.
I used a tape measurer to measure the distance.

It is a map of where you have been on your device for the last 24 hours, a digital footprint is a trail of data that you leave behind when you use the internet. Long time no see, the holidays were very fast. But I’m very happy to be at school!!
I’m blogging my first reading create task today. So for this week the cookie monsters ( My group ) were reading the book called The duels the inventors awaken, by Simon Cooke.
The book was about a grand daughter who went to her grandpas sid house because her mom told her that grandpa sid was felling upset. Then she asked her grandpa sid why he was sad, he told her that a another scientist his friend betrayeded him. And trying to defeat him by his new prompts he made. But suddenly Emma ( Drand dauthers name ) had lots of ideas of what to make to defeat the scientist. So her grandpa said you are my apprentice, so they decided to make Emma’s new invention. ]

For this week we at least had to do two create task, for my first create task I chose a task which was called the mood board.First we had to make a copy of a goggle slide and fill it out with images and etc based on our setting. We also had to put where the setting was, colour of the setting, and charcters feeling.
