The word whakairo means carving wood.

The pattern patiki stands for the flounder fish.

 Hello In Mamaku 1 we have been learning to use grids, nets and create 3D shapes. Over the  last 2 weeks M1 and M2 have been learning all about grids, nets to make our city.     This is the city that Zach and I created together.

Hello, last term for maths we made a city on a big piece of paper  with our group. Then when we  were done sketching we added grass, then letters  across the top, then added numbers down the side. We created buildings. Then we coloured them in with coloured pencils. When we were done with the buildings we got a sheet of paper with cars, trees, stop signs. We had to cut out the stuff. We calculated the space by perimeter and area. We had 6 buildings plus the walkway. We made a google video, we had to write a script.

Hello, last term we made 3D city’s on a grid. We had to colour the grid in and draw the buillding onto the grid. Our buildings were 3D shapes and we were allowed 1 2 story building.

This week we have been colouring our motor-home and drawing the inside of our motor-home. We will be using our motor home to travel the length of New Zealand. We got a book for are journey.

This week we started in Kaiwaka in the North Island of NZ.

We have been doing a NZ Road Trip for reading and we have started in Kaiwaka which is right up the top of the north island. Here are some facts and a video about Kaiwaka.

Kaiwaka is two hours from Auckland and is on state highway one.

People on waka stopped at Kaiwaka to take a break and eat before the next step of their trip.

Kaiwaka is where river paths connect the east coast to the Kaipara Harbour which is on the west. 

Kaiwaka School has a twenty-five meter waka! That’s as long as most lap pools. The waka has several whakairo including a sport ball ,a computer mouse and the diamond shaped patiki. (flounder)

 Hello and for the past two weeks we  used nets and mapping to create 3D shapes to make our City of shapes. At the start  we numbered down the left  side, and lettered it across the top. Then  we sketched our buildings onto the map. Then added roads. We used vivid to  trace around buildings and roads,  and  then we  coloured some green onto an area. We got our nets and added some details like windows, and doors then we coloured in our nets then cut them  out. After we cut out our nets we creased along the back line, glued the tabs, and stuck them  together. Finally we used our plan, so we could place our buildings onto the map, then add our accessories,  like cars and.   

Hello, last term we have been learning about using grids,nets and creating 3d shapes. First we write the numbers on the side and the letters on the top on the outside of the map. Then we draw the building, roads, and the green space and outlined the the sketching with vivid and colored it in. Then we got our nets and and colored them in and cut them out.  Next we planned them, what they are and where they go. Now we folded them on the black line and glued them on the bits. After we planned it  we hot glued them on the map where they needed to go. Our fav one is Pop Mart because its famous and there is Labubus and there is lots of buildings like McDonalds, Wendy’s, a high school and other buildings.

Hello at school we are learning to use grids and nets to create 3D shapes we did this with a budd from  M2 . We had to to make a 3D city this was part of maths.First we had to get the piece of grid paper and we put letters on the top and numbers down the side. We all had to work in pairs my buddy was Arlo.S

After we sketched the buildings  added roads and some big, and small shapes as building. Then we numbers then 1 to 10. After that we colour in the roads in grey and the grass area in green.

Then we counted the squares up and down then we had a plan that had all the building 1 to 10 that’s why we had to number them. We wrote it in the plane then handed it to our teacher to make the nets for.

After our teacher made us all the nets for our city we coloured them in and added details like windows and doors, even some signs.

After that we cut out the nets and then creased all tabs and side along the black line. Then we glued the tabs to the side to make a 3D building. After the buildings were made, we outlined the numbers and letters with black pen.

Then we placed where we wanted the buildings to be and then we would get called up to  hot glue it on the the map. Finally we added small details like cars and park benches. Then that was the finished result our city looked great we added a mall, hospital, and three houses.

  In love how mine turned out. When we had finished and hot glued everything on then we had to make a google vid about it. Hope you like the one me and my buddy made!

This week in reading we are learning about the Zorb invention.   Today we included some of our heart words.

We’re still focusing on idioms this term, and today we had to create another slide on one that we chose. We’ve learned a few new ones, like The ball is in your court, Bite the bullet, and Spill the beans. I picked Under the weather.

Under the weather used to mean when sailors hid below deck during storms when they felt sick. Now it just means feeling sick. Here’s my slide: (2nd one)

We have been learning to make Symmetrical 2D patterns. It has to be the same on each side of the paper and you need to colour it the same on each side. You can only choose 2 colours. I did blue and purple but I forgot that you need to colour it the same on each side. I kinda messed up but that’s okay. And they all look so cool. Mrs Thomas (my teacher) took a photo of our symmetrical patterns and put them on gemini.

This week we have been learning about NZ Giant weta.  I made a Google vid using all the information I learnt. I enjoyed using the Google vids to share my work.

In reading this week we have been learning about weta. We had to investigate the New Zealand Native Giant Weta then create a google vids to share our information. It was fun to do but hard.

This week in reading we have been learning about the NZ native Giant weta this is my Google video.

Last week for Maths we drew patterns using 2d shapes. We started by folding our paper in half and then drew a line down the middle. Then we drew a pattern with shapes, we showed our teachers then mirrored it. Then we coloured it in. After that we out lined it using permanent markers. Then we had a photo taken and put it through Gemini. We asked Gemini to make it into something from real life. This is my drawing and my Ai version.

This week our reading activities were learning about NZ’s biggest Weta, the NZ giant Wetapunga. I used Google vids Ai videos to make the weta scenes then I looked up information and read it in my own words, then downloaded it. I had a lot of fun reading and learning about the NZ giant Weta. I hope you like my video.

Today I learned that fibreglass rods replace steel springs so jumpers don’t break bones. I also learnt that they are bouncer than other trampolines.

Today I learned that the Springfree trampoline has rods underneath and a net wall so children don’t get hurt.
