The Volume of Cuboid

Today’s post is about The Volume of Cuboid

Today  In M18, I learnt about on how to find the Volume of Cuboid.

The way I learnt on how to Find the Volume of cuboid was by Multiplying the Length with the Width and the Height

Length X Width X Height=___

Ex:

Length=6 cm  Width= 4 cm  Height= 3 cm

Volume = 6 X 4 X 3=72

Answer= 72 cm

Online Task 4 – Converting between Fractions,Decimals, Percentages

Online Task 4 – Converting Fractions, Decimals, Percentages – Vika

  • Task Description

For this task, we had to do levels from 1  to 3 of converting fractions, decimals and percentages. I can say that it got a little difficult when I got to level 3 but it did help me gain knowledge about more fractions, decimals and percentages. I enjoyed this task and think this would help me in future exams or minor tests we have.

Experience in Maths

Today we had maths for the first period and to be clearly honest it wasn’t really interesting for me but for my classmates. I can’t really tell, I guess some enjoyed it, some didn’t but we did some coding and I guess that was really interesting for me since coding’s really like puzzle solving and I love solving puzzles. I love the way the results turn out after I’m done although the rest of what we did bore me out. So after I finished my work I sat and drew some doodles with a friend of mine that I sit next to.

Maths this week – Reflection

This week in maths, we dived into algebra, and honestly, it felt like decoding an ancient language. Each equation seemed more confusing than the last, leaving me feeling lost in a sea of x’s and y’s.

But something changed when our teacher took a different approach to explaining things. With patience and several creative methods, like using real-life examples, the fog began to lift. A particular moment of clarity came with a problem we tackled: “2x + 5 = 15.” It wasn’t just about finding x anymore; it was about understanding the steps to unveil it.

By the end of the week, that sense of achievement when I finally solved an equation correctly was unbeatable. It’s a reminder of how persistence, coupled with effective teaching, can turn confusion into confidence. Algebra’s not so scary after all, thanks to our teacher’s effort in illuminating the path.

100 word challenge – Balanced Diets

Balanced Diets in 100 words
Balanced diets are super important for keeping us healthy and feeling good. It’s all about eating a mix of foods like fruits, veggies, grains, proteins, and dairy. Each type gives our bodies what we need to work best. Fruits and veggies are full of vitamins, grains give us energy, proteins help our muscles, and dairy keeps our bones strong. Eating a bit of everything makes sure we get all the good stuff our bodies need to stay sharp and avoid getting sick. It’s like making sure we have all the pieces for a healthy life puzzle.

I thought this challenge was pretty cool but a bit tough. Trying to squeeze all the info into just 100 words made me really think about what’s most important about eating all kinds of foods. I learned a lot about why we need different food groups and how they help our body. Sharing my thoughts and seeing what my mates wrote was the best part. It’s like we all got different pieces of the puzzle. Made me see how we can talk about the same thing in many ways.

Graphics is awesome!

Hey there!

This week, we kicked off a new unit in graphics, and honestly, it’s been so much fun. There’s something special about turning your ideas into visual designs that just grabs you. We dove into color theory, balance, contrast, and how fonts can really set the tone of a piece. It’s pretty cool to see how all these elements blend together to not only look good but also get a message across.

Getting to grips with design software has been a highlight. Figuring out all the tools, messing around with layers, and experimenting with textures has been a mix of challenge and excitement. It feels like you’ve got this massive canvas where you can try anything, and every slip-up is just a step towards making something awesome.

Our project was to design our own logo, which was a great way to put everything we’ve learned into action. Going from doodling ideas to digitally creating my logo was super rewarding. It’s kind of amazing to see your initial concept grow into something polished and professional.

Sharing our designs and getting feedback was a bit daunting but really helpful. It’s interesting to see how different people can see different things in the same design. This whole process of sharing and getting critiques has not only made my work better but also shown me new ways of looking at things and different techniques I can try.

Reflecting on this week, I’m amazed at how much I’ve picked up and how my interest in graphics has grown. It’s become more than just a class for me; it’s a way to express myself without words, a medium where creativity is limitless.

I’m really looking forward to seeing where this graphics journey takes me and how my skills will evolve as we dive deeper. Here’s to more creativity, learning, and growing ahead.

Not the Beep Test!

Kia ora,

This week in PE (Physical Education) was one for the books, but not for the reasons I would’ve hoped. We had our fitness test, and let’s just say it was a real test, not just of physical endurance but of patience and spirit too.

PE’s always been a mixed bag for me. On one hand, I love getting active, especially when it involves anything with a ball. On the other, there are aspects like fitness tests that can be downright daunting. This week, it was all about the latter.

The test included a series of challenges meant to measure our fitness levels: sprints, long-distance running, push-ups, and sit-ups. I get the point of it, really, I do. It’s important to know where you’re at physically, to set goals and work towards them. But when you’re out there, giving it your all and still finding yourself gasping for air or lagging behind, it can be a bit disheartening.

What got to me the most wasn’t the physical exertion, though that was tough enough. It was the feeling of being measured and compared. I know everyone’s at different levels of fitness, and that’s totally fine. But there’s something about having those differences laid out so starkly that doesn’t sit right with me.

I also wonder about the focus of these tests. Yes, physical fitness is crucial, but so is enjoying being active. I worry that for some of us, these tests might do more to put us off PE than encourage us to embrace it. There’s got to be a way to assess our fitness without making it feel like a competition or an exam that you can fail.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m all for challenging myself and improving my fitness. I just think there might be a better way to go about it, one that encourages progress and personal bests without the pressure of passing or failing.

All in all, it’s been a reflective week. Despite the frustrations, I’ve come away with a renewed motivation to work on my fitness, on my own terms. I’m keen to find activities that I enjoy and that help me get stronger and fitter, at my own pace.

Here’s hoping next week brings a bit more of the fun side of PE, with less of the testing.

Catch ya later,

English this week

Hey there,

Jumping straight into it, this week in English has been a real eye-opener. We’ve been exploring some fascinating short stories and poems, each packed with themes and messages that really make you think. There was this one story, in particular, about facing fears and finding courage that really hit home. It’s been a bit like my own journey starting high school – a mix of nerves and excitement, but mostly learning to navigate through new challenges.

We’ve also dived into the importance of choosing the right words to express our thoughts. It’s incredible how a few carefully selected words can completely change the impact of what you’re trying to say. I’ve started applying this to my own writing, and it’s not easy, but I can see the difference it makes.

The group discussions have been a highlight for me. Sharing our thoughts on the stories we’ve read and hearing different perspectives has been really enriching. It’s shown me there’s no single way to interpret a piece of literature, and it’s okay to have your own unique take on it.

Reflecting on the past week, I’ve realised how much I’ve grown, not just in my understanding of literature but also in my confidence to express myself and engage in deeper discussions. High school is definitely shaping up to be an adventure, full of opportunities to learn and grow.

English class is turning out to be more than just learning about language and literature; it’s a journey into understanding how to communicate effectively, reflect on our personal experiences, and appreciate the diverse viewpoints around us.

Here’s to more learning and growing in the weeks to come.
