Jumping straight into it, this week in English has been a real eye-opener. We’ve been exploring some fascinating short stories and poems, each packed with themes and messages that really make you think. There was this one story, in particular, about facing fears and finding courage that really hit home. It’s been a bit like my own journey starting high school – a mix of nerves and excitement, but mostly learning to navigate through new challenges.
We’ve also dived into the importance of choosing the right words to express our thoughts. It’s incredible how a few carefully selected words can completely change the impact of what you’re trying to say. I’ve started applying this to my own writing, and it’s not easy, but I can see the difference it makes.
The group discussions have been a highlight for me. Sharing our thoughts on the stories we’ve read and hearing different perspectives has been really enriching. It’s shown me there’s no single way to interpret a piece of literature, and it’s okay to have your own unique take on it.
Reflecting on the past week, I’ve realised how much I’ve grown, not just in my understanding of literature but also in my confidence to express myself and engage in deeper discussions. High school is definitely shaping up to be an adventure, full of opportunities to learn and grow.
