What connections can you make between the two Artists Kaupapa and uses of the grid?

Tracy Tawhiao and Sofia Minson

I think that the connection between Tracy Tawhia and Sofia Minson’s uses of the grid were both the same, as I can see in their paintings they have similarities in the grid which is really cool. They also both like drawing about Maori, Tracy Tawhiao was drawing Maori pattern symbols which is really cool and She doesn’t only make one pattern, she makes different Maori patterns and it was so amazing.  Sofia Minson also likes drawing about Maori but mostly she draws people’s faces and also likes drawing animals. When Sofia Minson draws people’s faces there is a background that has Maori patterns which are like Tracy Tawhiao’s drawing.

Sofia Minson and De Chirico

I think that Sofia Minson and De Chirico have a similarity in using grids and also they have similarities in drawing people’s faces and it was really amazing to look at. The difference between their painting is that Sofia Minson drawing with a people’s face has a background and it also has a cool pattern on the background, De Chirico has a background but doesn’t have any pattern on the background. His background is like it shows the sky and around the back like Sun, beach etc.

What happened-It was too dark for William  to study and there was no kereson for a lamp.

Colour- Palette- Green,Grey,Brown,Black-Sad,Dark.

Lighting-Cold bluestone-Sad lonely feel,Dim light,Natural-sun through dark clouds-Not much heading through.

World Vision 40 Hour Famine Blog Post 

So far, more than 3 million New Zealanders have participated and over $80 million has been raised – helping to transform thousands of lives both here in New Zealand, and around the world. 

4 ways that World Vision help are:

• Food –  food supplies are down in a lot of dry countries 
• Education –  education quality is not very flash for countries due to lack of money
• Child Protection –  child protection is dying due to the lack of building qualitys
• Medical supplies – Medicine is a big part of child safety because lots kids are getting sick because they don’t have enough medicine supplies.

4 countries that World Vision support are:

• Uganda – lack of food and water
• India – over half the people don’t have jobs
• Syria – in war for 11 years
• Vanuatu – site claim

My school have done fundraisers and everyone donated gold coins.

What else could you do to support World Vision?

The World Vision 40 Hour Famine is New Zealand’s largest youth fundraising campaign. Every year since 1975, tens of thousands of young Kiwis have taken a stand through a 40 Hour Challenge to raise money and bring hope to thousands of children living in poverty in more than 40 countries.

Traditionally, the 40 Hour Challenge meant going without food for 40 hours. However, over the years, people have become creative, finding fun new challenges such as giving up screens, furniture or technology for 40 hours. Or how about living out of a backpack, doing 40 good deeds, or taking a 40-hour vow of silence – whatever your idea is, just go for it!

Food – Giving food to countries that have been affected by something or someone ( plural )

Education – World Vision gives teachers free classroom resources, and free NCEA resources. They include apps for the teachers to download to help their students understand society and their place in the world.

Child Protection – Giving children a normal childhood, instead of having too be slaves and marrying at a young age.

Medical supplies –  Giving people medicine and health supplies ( bandages etc. )to help with their health or medical problems.

4 countries that World Vision support are:

• Uganda
• India
• Syria
• Vanuatu

Uganda – Uganda grows their own food and harvest it but then it all stopped growing and died due to bad soil. World Vision gives them free food. 

India – In India, less than half the population have jobs and only get paid around 2 dollars a day. They can’t afford some essential needs like the doctor, the dentist or other things. World Vision gives them free medicine and food.

Syria – Since Syria has been at war since 2015 with Turkey, World Vision helps Syria by dropping off food supplies, sending health care products. But before World Vision came along,  Ukraine would supply their food, now since they are at war, they can’t supply anymore.

Vanuatu – Vanuatu suffered a cyclone.And it ruined their crops. WV supplies food and medicine for them.

This artwork from De Chirico was really cool, As I can see in his artwork he like drawing side views of the building and he also likes drawing people’s faces which is really amazing. In this picture, as I can see here there was in the middle who was laying down, on the left and side there was a house side view which is really amazing. On the far end, there was like a flag and besides, there was a train.

What similarities can you list between Tawhiao and De Chirico’s work?

What I can see is that between Tracy Tawhia and De Chirico’s works the similarities are that they both like drawing from Maori, and Tracy Tawhiao like drawing about Maori different types of symbols.  De Chirico’s work is that he likes drawing people from the past and it is also related to Maori he also likes drawing different types of side view buildings and houses which is really cool to look at.
