DFI Last Day

Well I finished the exam and it wasn’t the disaster I was expecting although my laptop did go flat and there ensued a panicked sprint around the house to find it. When I got back in again I was worried everything was lost  but luckily it was all there but it took me a while to realise I was no longer incognito so I may not pass on a technicality!


I have really enjoyed the Professional learning I have had within our Bubble group and working with people who have similar roles to mine made the discussions so much more relevant. I will miss this dedicated time to work on my own needs and I have thoroughly enjoyed EVERYTHING!
 With the COVID-19 impact on education I was extremely proud that our school was able to react quickly and collaboratively to create an authentic and purposeful learning space for students who were able to work online. Some students thrived under the regular online contact with their teachers and others were self determining about how they would schedule their time. I regret not having made more time to educate whanau to show them how this would work and how they could support their children because it would have been Greek to most of them. Even a tutorial about how Hapara Parent Portal could be set up for them to see what work their child was completing and when work was due. I do want to maintain the close communication we had with whanau during the Lockdown and will follow up their requests to have a more reasonable homework schedule available on our website and tutorials so they can be  an active participant in their child’s learning.


I am going to miss working from home while everyone is at work!

Ink Traps

29.6.2020

HI!!! So….. during these two week’s we have been making Ink traps.
It was really fun. My favourite park about the hole making thing, was when
we got to outside and hide them. That was really fun. It took us a while to find a good hiding spot, but we got there in the end. Oh and the funny park about 
this hole thing was when we all came out to see how our traps were, 
some traps had gone missing. Like fully gone. It was so funny.
Lucky ours didn’t get taken, but there were no foot steps in it.
 Witch was a bit sad. But anyway hope you have fun😊.

Coco Pops

I was so hungry today i don’t even know why. I got my coco pops bowl and glass of milk and i started eating. When i was half way though my Breakfast i realized there was a note so i opened it and it said have a good day. That was a good surprise i said to myself. I had a good Idea i was going to do the same thing but in mums and dads coffees. When they got back from work they saw the notes i left in there and they smiled. Because we liked the notes so much we started to do it daily. Everyday a different note. Thanks mum and dad.

breakfast

As I was eating breakfast  my mum came in and made me rush because  school was about to start in 5 minutes but i said well i can’t leave my breakfast i only just started eating so i shoved it all down my mouth but when i was almost done i spilt it all over myself because my little brother had put a fake spider in it as soon as i realised it was fake i got the leftover milk from in my bowl and tipped it on his heed it was so worth getting in trouble

Making Ink Traps

Last week , we made lnk tracking tunnels to see what pests we have at school .

Equipment 

. 1 sponge

. peanut butter

. Food colouring for ink

. Cardboard

. 2,x empty 2litre milk cartons

Making the trap

. white paper

steps 

1. cut the ends of the milk boltles.
-save 1 to hold the sponge

2. join the two milk boltles together.

3.wrap them with black plastic .

4. put a piece of white paper inside.

5.put food colouring on the sponge and a blob of peanut butter.

6. Put the tunnel in a outdoor space to see what happens.

When we checked our trap, the pests had stolen the sponge! We replaced it, and they stole it again!!! Other traps showed rat and mice footprints, and poop! They also chewed the sponges.

Why people move.

There are a few reasons you would leave a country,it might be for political reasons or it might be that a war is happening and you are trying to look out for your family and keep them safe from harm.Or it might just be a simple financial reason and you’re just  trying to have a fresh new start.

Or sometimes people just wanna find new places to work, enjoy a new culture or just explore the world one country at a time. Or it’s because there is gang’s that linger everywhere and there family doesn’t feel safe.

Get creative task with Mikaera

This is our get creative task, we chose to make a catapult out of classroom objects. First I asked Mikaera if he wanted to help make one. Then we gathered all the materials that we thought would do the job, It did. We put it all together within minutes and it worked so we decided to make a challenge and try get it in the cup, that was a very good idea because it makes it look a lot cooler.

Push + Pull Posters

In Social Studies, we have been creating and sharing to each other push + pull posters about the topic entering and leaving a country. The push and pull aspect of these posters were to find reasons with explanation to wanting to move to a country and vice-versa. We then had to present both posters to our class and state the reasons why for both topics. This was a good exercise for public speaking in my opinion and to advertise something.Here are the two posters which we created and shared with everyone.

Buckets

all started with a scream then off were the racers then scoop after scoop. The contenders clashed at the rim of the bucket and the echo of screams all around the quad As the sun was its peak. Then My name got called soon after. the clash happened again as competitiveness fumes off Nikora and the saltiness from the water. I wondered who was gonna win? Sadly no one won and we went back inside causing me to get bored again. But the water bucket games fun. Apart from the cup bit in my mouth and cheating. And lack of knowledge of this unknown game

the bucket game

The game me and my class  played  was for our writing but it was a  bit strange because the water was warm and it had food colouring so it stained my hands when i put my hands into the bucket. Strangely it smelt like weird water. It was pretty funny when there where people who were trying to follow the rules, Because probably only one person followed the rules.



Lots of the water came out of the bucket because they were spilling it for some reason. The food coloring stained some of the other people’s clothes when they were running with the water. Frustratingly it was a bit hard because the ice cream bucket that we needed to put the water in was small so you missed some of the water around them, The sound of the water hitting the concrete was satisfying.



I thought it was a race so i went pretty tryhard to try to win but then I realized it wasn’t. Know one was being nawty because we were outside the principal’s office playing the bucket game. We got really noisy when people were doing the game. They made us more motivated to try our best at the game. We all were in our shoes because we were on concrete and luckily no one slipped over. The feeling of stopping the game felt great to my hands and my clothes that day.
