Netball Helping
Netball Helping:
Every day is about 2 hours because it is an hour each year group and I did it for 5 weeks so that equals 10 hours.
Every Friday a group of us help at a netball programme with little kids. We normally have two groups of kids. There is a 1 – 2 year group and a 3 – 4 year group.
Each day Mrs Newton would split the kids into two groups and about 3 helpers would go with one group. Normally we would all go on a line and play a game called rats and rabbits and how that would work is we are all on a line and Mrs Newton would call rats or rabbits and if she called your name you had to run to another line behind you, but if you got tagged by the other team you had to switch teams to the opposite team you were in.
After the rats and rabbits game the teams would come back together and we would all do some fitness games so we would all go on a line and run really fast then we would skip to the other line and back then we would do some squats and lunges. After that we would all get a ball and a pair then Mrs Newton would say we were going to do some passes, then when you picked your partner we would do chest passes, shoulder passes, over the head passes, then we would do bounce passes.
When we finished doing the passes drill we would do netball knockout, so we would have to be split into teams again and one team would be shooting and the other team would be running around a quarter of the court so if the team that’s shooting misses the person runs to the end of the court to win for their team.
After all the games and drills it would be finished and after the 5 weeks of doing the netball helping Mrs Newton gave us a swimming pool voucher and a few pieces of chocolate.

For the past two terms I have been going down to the Westland Recreation Centre to referee year 3-4 (first term) and 5-6 (second term) basketball. I referee two games a day!
I don’t really know how I got into reffing in the first place. Last year I refereed year 3-4 which was insanely easy because you don’t really have to do much. In mini-ball it’s half the court and you have to be quite loose with the rules because they’re only just starting.
When you referee year 5-6 you play to the normal rules… but you loosen up a bit. The most popular mistakes are travel, double dribbling and one that even I do quite a bit… fouls. Depending on the skill level of the teams I am reffing and the point deficit I called over half-way. This can happen on two occasions, when a team dribbles back over half way when they already have or when someone is throwing the ball in on one side of the half-way mark and they throw it the opposite way.
I have learnt many skills such as how to stick up for myself and how to tell if people are lying… because that happens quite often. If you are under the age of 19 on the West Coast you have to wear a mouthguard… and these kids are real rough. There’s elbowing, pushing and sometimes even kicking and punching! I may be someone who gets fouled off but these kids are on a different level!
I personally believe that refing with a variety of different people has exploded my skill level and respect for referees. Even when one team is up by 30 if the winning team gets a call that they don’t agree with… there will be some complaining. I am insanely grateful for referees now and can now relate to them on a level that I wouldn’t have been able to before.
Overall I really enjoyed my time refereeing and believe that I will be back next year… maybe to even ref year 7-8!

Angel/Electricity Assessment
Circuit disgrams on paper and phet:

Difference between current and voltage:
Current is a measure of the flow of eletrons which is a push from voltage.
Voltage is often generated by batteies. and current electricity is driven by it.
The differentnes betwen current and voltage is that current is how fast how the eletrons travel. voltage is the thing that pushes eletrons through the circuits.
Differences between series and parallel circuits:
A series circuit it means the components are in the same line and only one path for the current to flow in. that means if one bulb fails they all go out.
A parallel circuit it means next to each other that means there are multiple pathways for the current to flow in. that means If one bulb fails/breakes the others will still go.
Why bulbs in a parallel and series circuit are brighter/dimmer:
In a parallel circuit the light will be brighter than in a series circuit that is because in a series circuit the voltage(the push of eletrons) is divided between the light bulbs meaning the light will be more dimmer then in a parallel circuit.
The parallel circuit will be more brighter then the series circuit. This is because aulike in the series circuit it doesn’t split paths or divides. So the current carries the same amount of voltage for each light bullb.
Learning about idioms again!
We’re still focusing on idioms this term, and today we had to create another slide on one that we chose. We’ve learned a few new ones, like The ball is in your court, Bite the bullet, and Spill the beans. I picked Under the weather.
Under the weather used to mean when sailors hid below deck during storms when they felt sick. Now it just means feeling sick. Here’s my slide: (2nd one)

Electricity assessment end of term 3 2026
Hello today l am going to talk about Electricity and circuits.
It has 2 light bulbs and if one of your light bulb stops that mean all of them won’t
If it is a series all of your lights would turn off that is why a series does not light an entire house and a parallel would because with a parallel it lights the whole house because it has more atoms and more voltage and if they did not have enough voltage that means the parallel circuit would not work right.
What is current Electricity- it is where you have Electricity that keeps going round and round your circuit the elections carry the change of what is in the circuit it also makes it so that the circuit flows smoothly make sure that nothing is wrong light the light bulbs are working .
The parallel circuit lights are brighter and dimmer because it depends on the voltage the larger the voltage the brighter the light
In a series circuit it splits up the voltage but in a parallel circuit every branch receives the same voltage.
There is a lot more atoms and Electricity coming into the parallel also because it is more powerful because if only one if the lights stopped in your house then you could still see but if you had one working and it was all dark that is why it is powerful and it needs a lot more power. But with a series if one of them stops all of them stop so that they don’t have as much power as the parallels do and they have less atoms and less Electricity one light bulb in a series circuit is brighter then three light bulbs. With a parallel more bulbs you add the brighter the lights get.
We also drew 2 types of circuit they were series and parallel.
What is voltage? It is how much current flow your circuit has of electrons all of the voltage are the same
Example: there are 3 batteries and 12 in each would make 36 volts altogether.

Today we are learning how to draw a line to connect the numbers all the way to 147 and started at 87.
First I added 13 from 87 and made it 100 then I added 20, but I forgot to add the plus sign
.
Then after adding the 20 to my 100 to make it 120 I then added 27 to make 147 and the finale number is 147
On the top I first added all the numbers from below and got 60 then I subtracted the numbers and I got 0.

WHAT I DID: Hi bloggers today I am going to be telling you about my reading creates task this reading creates task is a poster you pick one animal and then resreach about it then give some facts about the red panda.Did you know that The Red panda has a built-in blanket because of the fluffy tail it keeps in the warm air that has bean built over time because the red pandas gets hot in summer so in winter the body fat and the fluffy tail and body keeps the warm air inside.
HOW FUN WAS IT?: this create task was kind of fun I learned so many more fun and fascinating facts about the red panda like about its diet its habitat and physical traits this create task can be for everbody so i recameend you guys to try it.
WHAT WAS CHALLENGING?:
The things that were challenging for me were finding the facts to fit it the right place on the poster and getting the right facts.There where so many facts but I had a small template so I could only fit some facts in there

Win-Win (goats point of view)
Hi guys today and yesterday we did a story about a goat and an old man called Teban with his wife lucilla. I did the goats point of view so this is mine.
Dear diary, today I saw an old man. I think his name is Teban? He tried to catch me with a rope so I just dodged it.. So I said to him,
Me: please dont take me. I want to stay here with my family. If you take me I will be really sad and lonely.
Teban:I need to take you so me and my wife can sell your fleece so we can live comfortably.
Me:I will give you all of my fleece because it gets really hot in the summer so you can have my fleece.
Other goats: Yeah mine too.
Teban: Ok
After that we gave him our fleece and he left us there on our island yayyy.
That’s what I did. I only had one day to do this because we were doing something yesterday. It was really fun it do this but it was really tricky to do it quickly in one day. Do you guys like it??
