When we got to the Gorge we quickly got into groups where I was with Hunter then we left so we walk on a bridge then went up three hills finally we went down a hill to get to the destination where we made a tent like thing then when the people who showed us the place were trying to make a fire me and Hunter tried making a boat but we ran out of time so we quickly grabbed a piece of wood and stuck a flag then we tried to put it in the water but it sank finally the fire was working and I had one marshmallow then back to the challenging walk and once we got back we played capture the flag and we won then back to school for the final day of school for the term.

Holes by Louis Sachar

This term my classroom read the book Holes, we also done some activities. It starts of with Stanley Yelnats walking back home when a pair of shoes dropped on his head, he looked up and seen nothing but the bridge, so he picked up the shoes and started to walk back home again, he heard police sirens coming after him so he ran but the police caught up to him. The next day he went to the judge where they gave him 2 choices jail or Camp Green Lake and he picked Camp Green Lake.

I liked all the activities that we have done. My favourite activity was the sign saying You are entering Camp Green Lake. I have done my activity with to of my friends, Jaye and Lexi. We spent a lot of time on the letters and on colour, the photo is in the slide.

My favourite character is Zero because of how smart he is. Zero is a fast thinker and is really good with maths but struggles with reading and writing. I think Zero is one of the best characters in the book and movie. If you haven’t seen the movie you should watch it.

Video making

This week we were making movies. I learnt how to storyboard. Story boarding is a graphic representation of how our video will unfold, shot by shot. We drew pictures  in  squares representing each shot with notes about what’s going on in the scene. Here is a video of what my group talked about.

All we did was record some photos of Jamaica and inserted some facts about Jamaica onto the video. It was my first time making and editing a video so you will have to forgive me as I have editing skills to work. Here is the video. Hope you enjoy

Kapahaka

In week 8 we were practising our Kapa Haka Bracket for the Cultural Festival in Kaikohe. We will be perform on the memorial hall stage. Our bracket had a Karanga, entry, waiata, transition, haka and exit. We chose to stay in at interval and practise. We even had a after school practise. After all of this practicing we were all hyped up. The hard part for me was the transition because there were really small gaps and I would nearly wack a girl. We all had a good time hope you like the post.
