KPMG – financial literacy 🤑
Kia ora readers,
Today we have been visited by KPMG, we had four intelligent people in our class (Sarah, Hannah, Kyla and Niesha) and four bright people in Room two (Poppy, Tanner, Martha and Ellie) and they were introduces by Justine (She the one who runs it) They were here to talk about money, money, Moneeeeeeeeeeeeey
!
We learned about different types of currency (money) like the most important one New Zealand Dollars (NZD)
We learned about loans, debit, interest and budgeting.
I learned that when you leave money in the bank the bank gives you a little extra money.
I also learned that loans is when someone gives you money and you have to repay them in a period on time.
The last thing I learned was budgeting. Budgeting helps you manage your money and organize it into groups like:
- Savings
- Needs
- Wants
Can you make a budget?

During the end we did a test about financial literacy.

At my Dad’s
In the weekend I went to my dad‘s house. I watched his TV excitedly. I ate noodles hungrily They were yummy. I watched TV and had crackers at night quietly. My dad was in bed sleeping peacefully.
Parachutes
Last week team two were testing their parachutes that we made. We made them with string that were 30 cm long and with plastic red material. We tested it at the park at a high place. But mine crashed quickly. I tried it five times from the ladder.

Senior Library Challenge
As part of our PBS Book Week celebrations, our class engaged in a series of dynamic and hands-on library challenges designed to build our literacy, research, and critical thinking skills. Throughout the week, we tackled several distinct activities:
Library Treasure Hunt: We put our navigation skills to the test by locating fiction and non-fiction books using the surroundings, while also incorporating quick maths puzzles and fun yoga poses into our search.
Fairy Tale B-A-R Creative Exercise: We applied the “B-A-R” strategy—making elements Bigger like enlarging, Adding new details, or Replacing a certain accessory or body part—to reimagined classic fairy tales with a unique twist.
7-Minute Picture Book Challenge: We completed a rapid-reading session focused on quickly analyzing, evaluating, and drawing key insights from picture books within a strict seven-minute timeframe.
Smart Searching & AI Challenge: We used targeted web search strategies to research Spain’s famous La Tomatina festival—focusing on where it takes place, when it occurs, and why the tradition started—before using those facts to engineer prompts for creating a visual infographic in Gemini.

This week we have been learning about in ancient Aotearoa New Zealand back then like 160 million years ago!The animals were a giant eagle,a cricket the size of a mice and a stout bird which is the giant eagle’s prey,when Maori gazed into Aotearoa’s forest-filled land they couldn’t predict what creatures was hiding in the trees,a lot of unique plants and animals live here in New Zealand like ferns and kiwis which is native to New Zealand Nature.
Back the 160 million years ago there were 2 super continents called Gondwana and Laurasia,Gondwana included continents and countries like Australia,South America,India,Antartica,Africa and New Zealand and they all got separated 160 million years ago by earthquakes,volcano eruptions and more natural disasters.
back then there were no evidence that mammals lived in New Zealand after it split from Gondwana and the only mammals were seals and bats,in 2003 scientists found a tiny 16-million year old fossil of a mammal in central Otago,Scientists are still trying to find out what species it belonged to.
the evolution and adaptation for animals,back then,animals would look completely different!For example,if u put a penguin in a hot place,it would have to adapt to its surroundings so maybe they are gonna loose their fat that makes them warmer and their thick fur and maybe their fur is gonna become thinner when they adapt to a hot place because if they still have their hot,thick fur in a hot place then it wouldn’t be comfortable for them so their bodies would change to fit their surroundings and make them more comfortable over time!
Fun fact: Tuatara’s still look like what they looked like 200 million years ago!They developed small adaptations to colder temperatures,they live in native forests and they catch different prey, so scientists believe that they didn’t really have to change much overtime.

Reading with the juniors
As part of Book Week, our PALs team went to the library to read awesome books with the younger kids.Everyone went to different sections of the library and got a book ready for when the juniors came in. The juniors came in and found there spots I had 3 kids that I red to. It was so cool getting to help them sound out hard words and pick out fun stories. I enjoyed reading to the younger kids and seeing them so intached to the books I was reading.
Cybersmart Week Six Term Three 2026

This week we had two choices for Cybersmart, a Mosaic Art, and a Adobe Express Fishbowl Video.
The one that I chose was the Adobe Express Fishbowl Video.
Here are the steps on how to do the Adobe Express Fishbowl Video.
1-You make a copy of the template
2- Get the full body photo of the person that you want to put in the Fishbowl.
3- The person that you put in has to be you, or a famous person.
4-You need to make sure that your photo is not trade marked if you are getting the photo of the internet.
5- If the photo has a background, go to remove bg and click upload image , and then chose your image.
6-Click Replace at the top of the Adobe screen.
7-After you clicked that, you click on photos.
8-Then after that you click on upload from device, and chose your image.
9- Then you repeat that for all the photos that you get, so you get photos of the internet that are NOT trade marked and do the same with the seahorse and the seaweed.
10- Play it to check that it works, and then put it on your blog.
11- Forgot to say that you need to change the name to the persons name.

One of our library challenges for book week was to use our smart searching skills to find out about the La Tomatina festival. We were asked to find out where it takes place, when it takes place and why it takes place. After that we used our facts and our prompting skills to create an infographic in Gemini. Something I found interesting was La Tomatina is celebrated purely for entertainment, tradition and fun, with no religious or political meaning behind the massive tomato fight. Book Week – Library Senior Challenge
To celebrate our 2026 book week, all classes had different challenges but us seniors did a library challenge where we completed various challenging but entertaning quizes, treasure hunts and maths equations. We drew covers fairy tales like the gruffalo, red riding hood and different other books! For this we used B.A.R. This ment Bigger, Add and Replace, this ment that we had to make something about the drawing bigger, add something random and replace another thing, we did alot of other wonderful activities and 7 minute picture book reading and a google form!

Siniors Libary challenge
To celebrate PBS Book Week, our class worked in groups to tackle an action-packed, one-hour library challenge filled with treasure hunts and station tasks. Over the course of the hour, we used our creativity using the B-A-R framework to transform classic fairy tales into drawings of fairytale characters with a twist, and spent seven focused minutes reading picture books. We had such a cool morning and I wish to do this again.
