One Day Room 20 and 19 were riding bikes which looked so fun! Im pretty sure that a teacher got each and every one of the kids a bike with a helmet. Sadly I wasnt there but hope The Hive had a great experience doing that! Blog you later. Aisha.

Task Description:
Today I decided to do another groups maths task since I felt like it! So this is like the other one except it had different questions! The New Zealand Land wars happened between 1845 and 1872. The battles happened at different times in different places, while the wars were all separate. They all started because of the same problem, the biggest problem was that they were selling lots of lands, forcing Maori to move from their homes. Pakeha was making deals with the Maori to buy land, they might trade land for guns or other items, Governor Grey was the pakeha man in charge at the time. Kind of like the prime minister, he ordered the British troops to rule Wellington.
North Island Māori saw how much land was being sold and wanted to stop or slow down the land sales. The Governor ordered troops to attack. There was a series of battles, some won by Wiremu and some won by the British troops. However, the British troops were forcing Māori to retreat and leave their land. In 1861 a truce was signed between the two sides. This meant that they agreed to stop the fighting.
This term we have been learning all about our oceans as part of ‘Sea Week’ which stretched out to ‘Sea Month’. This is the link to the learning on our class site and the wonderful website Young Ocean Explorers.
We enjoyed a trip out to Coopers Beach as part of our Sea Month learning. We worked together to create a Sea Week sculpture, we picked up lots of rubbish and had a lovely time swimming and playing at the beach. It was wonderful to spend time together outside the classroom.
As part of our learning, the students learnt how to create a google slide deck to share some of their learning. We had experts who had used google slides before and they were able to teach others. Thank you Te Reinga, Sophia, Toby and Nathanael. The students learnt how to:
There are a few more to add as we had some of our students away today. Overall there was lots of enthusiasm in this learning, and although some of the google slides are not quite finished, the students did a great job!
Well done to Te Reinga, Mia and Nova who worked on their slides in their own time at home. Now that is really self directed learning.
A pal day is when some of the older kids make some games for the others to play.
My favorite game was slippery hockey because I like hockey and I like sip and sids.
It was hard getting a gole in slippery hockey because everyone was slipping everywhere and bumping into everyone.

Invasion Of Parihaka
In November 5th 1881 one of the known invasion in New Zealand happened. November 5th 1881 the famous invasion of Parihaka led by John Bryce who works for the Native Affairs Minister occurred. A devastating event in New Zealand caused by greed for Maori’s owned lands and the politicians and settlers search for power. Also a law was made after the Taranaki War in 1860, the New Zealand Parliament decided to make a law called New Zealand Settlements Act, which meant they could confiscate Maori Lands to punish the Maori’s iwi that fought against ”Her Majesty’s Authority”. A place in Taranaki called Parihaka which is a place that had come to protest peacefully against confiscated Maori Lands. November 5th 1881 about 1600 troops surrounded Parihaka and 2,000 people living in Parihaka didn’t fight back, they actually sent out children to sing and offer the troops food. With the people living in Parihaka not fighting back, it caused them the next few weeks them being evicted from there houses, their home being destroyed, and women’s’ raped by the troops.

Today I had to write about the story? A midsummer Nights Dream…
In this story these two people named Demetrius and Hermia and basically Demetrius wants to marry Hermia but Hermia runs off with Lysander into the woods. Also someone called Helena loves Demetrius and she goes and tells him where Hermia went and then she follows him into the woods . Bottom the weaver and his friends just start rehearsing the play in the woods too. The fairy king Oberon uses a love juice on this person called Titania and why? Because he wanted her to give him her foster son. Oberon tells one of his Hench fairy called puck to use a love juice to make Demetrius fall in love with Helena but a mistake happened, Puck accidentally used the love juice on Lysander and he falls in love with Helena. Under the influence of love juice, Titania falls in love with Bottom who Puck has given a head of a donkey cause Puck uses the love juice on Demetrius and he falls in love with Helena. Everyone was really confused for a while and the love juice was removed from Titania and Lysander and everything was good.

L.I To make a brochure explaining why you should recommend staying at Kokako Lodge.
We made a brochure trying to convince people to go to Kokako Lodge.
Kokako Lodge is the place we went to camp for three days. We explained the outside of Kokako Lodge and the inside areas in Kokako Lodge. Outside we explained the address, phone number, and how long it takes to get there. Also explaining why you should recommend staying there. And also explaining there are instructors that take care of you and do the activities with you.
On the inside there are activities that you can do and explaining what is in the cafeteria and what resources they have in the kitchen. Also explaining how many people can the cabins fit inside each cabin. The cabins can hold about 83 people in each cabin. Beds are provided in the cabins but not beding things like sheets, pillows and blankets. Things you are needed to bring is food to eat and pack of clothing and resources that are necessary to pack.
I enjoyed this activity because I got to do brochures to people on why you should recommend going there.
HELLO Last week we created an Ecosystem. We did this in groups and used materials to make them. I was in a group with Renae and Ruby. Everyone made their ecosystem inside of a box but my group made a cake to show our creation, our habitat we decided to make was the Arctic.
After that we had to chose a prey and a predator to go in our habitat. My group chose an arctic fox as the predator and a polar bear as the our prey.
How we made our cake was by buying a cake and making white icing as the snow. We then made a polar bear and an arctic fox out of fondant, and a fox.
The reason the Arctic is suited for Arctic foxes is because Arctic foxes have several adaptations that allow them to survive. Their round, compact bodies minimize surface area that is exposed to the cold air.
As well as for Polar Bears they rely on sea ice to access the seals that are their primary source of food, as well as to rest and breed.
Sea ice is a special feature of the Arctic, and most wildlife there depend on it in some way.

This is a Quail. I chose this animal for my research. I picked this animal because it is my favourite animal.
Yesterday the whole rangi team got to go on a trip to the ”Manurewa Marae” we all got so exiled to go to the Marae.
We all traveled by two bus Room 1719 got t go on one and Room 20the best class in weymouth Room 18!!!!!!!! got to go in the other one. The cool thing was Matau Reg and Wheae Willi-ann got to come with us to.
When we got there we all got out and waited for like 5mins then we went in.
The girls went in first and lined up with Wheae Willi-ann and the boys lined up behind ”the girls we all walked slowly during the po fhdey. I didn’t really get her name but she was really pretty she was wearing a black dress and she was greeting us in.
When we got inside the Marae we had to leave our shose and bags outside because I think it was rude.
There were a lot of pou carvings” they were really cool Matau Te Kou Orehu said one carving took like 2 or 3 days to be finest by a master carver I don’t remember his name but they looked amazing but Matau Te Kou said ” Let the kids be kids ” so some and girls started to yell and screm and some even ran outside I tort they were being silly.
After that we had morning tea and well we were having morning tea Matua Te Kou was telling us about Matukutururu and Matukutureia.
After morning tea we all walked around the property. Some kids were on the exercise equipment and the other people were even rolling down the hill including me!!!So we came back from that and we went to the Marae. Matua Te Kou said more things about the story. So after that we all put our shoes and bags on and took a picture.
And we went back to school and played in the park till lunch time. But anyways I had a very very cool amazing day and when I went home and I told my family about my amazing day and that is the end of my amazing day.
