For our Inquiry this term we needed to be rocket innovators. My rocket is innovative because it’s wider than most rockets. This is so it can fit more people inside it for space science and experiments. These people can help us here on Earth.

After reading about war mascots we learned that soldiers had mascots to bring comfort and boost morale during hard times. I designed this war mascot. I made a 2 tigers because I think lots of people like tigers. They are fierce and strong.

Hi last week we learnt about the process of Canonisation. Canonisation is the process you have to go through to become a Saint. Once we learnt about Canonisation we had to make a poster and put on the four steps towards canonisation The steps to Canonisation firstly Request for Canonisation, then Determination, Beatification and lastly Canonisation. After that we needed to find two or three Saints that had been through the Process of Canonisation and write a fact or two about them. I chose Saint Mother Theresa and Saint Marie of incarnation. My poster is below.

Hi this week on Tuesday we went on a school trip to the Groynes and learned about freshwater, freshwater is one of the things we have been learning about in reading. At the trip first we crossed a swing bridge which was cool to sway across the bridge and then we went on a bit of a walk and learnt about the trees and plants on the walk. That walk lead us to a lake where we learnt about insects and invertebrates. After we got into groups and we got to look for invertebrates in the water and investigated them with a magnifying glass and other tools. I was with 2 of my friends Ivy and Evie and we found lots of water boatmen and we found a damselfly nymph which was really cool because we were the only group to find one. After that we played a game which demonstrated the food chain in the lake. There is a picture below of the Groynes below.

What do you know about freshwater?

This week for R.E we were learning about Jesus’s sacrifice and watched a video about a family in Cambodia that had to make some sacrifices. Then we watched another a video and then answer questions about it. The video I watched was The Rainbow Fish and something I learnt was when you give it actually makes you happy. Something interesting was the older daughter in the family in Cambodia had to drop out of school in year 3 to help her family. These were some of the questions I had to answer.

Have you ever read the book The Rainbow Fish?

Learning Goal: Identify some text events and discuss what they make the reader think about. For Reading this week we have been learning about Sir Edmund Hillary. We first read a book and did a true or false time line task. Next we watched a video and did some independent questions and did a reading create. For the reading create we had to make a scene and then have buttons leading to other slides that talk about ways Sir Edmund Hillary helped people after he climbed Mount Everest. I learnt that the Sherpa people are really important when climbing the mountain because they know the mountain well and carry your luggage for you. I liked doing the create because it was fun designing my scene at the start.

Would you ever want to climb a mountain?
For reading this week we were learning about Elon musk. First we had to read two books about him and then we got to make a create. For our create we had to put text features from the book on a drawing and write about them/explain what they are. Then we had to write a summary and identify one important idea and why it’s important to us. I learnt that Elon musk was born in South Africa and was the founder of Pay Pal which he ended up selling. Something I enjoyed was learning about text features and text events are because i didn’t know thats what they were called.
Did you know that Elon Musk made Pay Pal? If you do what was it actually called first?
