I am currently working on my Respect badge. To achieve this my challenge is to complete 5 tasks that help me strengthen my connections to the PBS CARE value of Respect. Respect helps us connect and respect others such as their spaces. My challenge in this task was make a brochure about belonging to Panmure Bridge School. I created this DLO to show my understanding of the task.
This activity was enjoyable as I shared good things about belonging to Panmure Bridge School.

For Maths today, Team Tui had Mr Herlihy educate us on what pentminoes. Pentminoes is a shape that consists of 5 squarer that make a shape. However, this shape can’t be connected by its vertices but by its sides.
Our task was to make letters using 5 squares only. The catch was that we had to make 12 letters, the most absurd rule about this task, was that we wren’t permitted rotate the shape to make it look like another letter.
Example – I made a letter d I would have made it to 12, unfortunately rotating it was not going to cut it. Importantly knowing what letter of the alphabet you have made.
Afterwards, we were instructed to partner up for the next task. Where we needed to cut out Pantomimes shapes to put together, to make it look like the following image.
Through all the cutting and putting together, I learnt that in Pantomimes, Pent means 5.

This week for Miss White maths group we learned how to subtract by using place value.
What is place value? Place values are the numerical value of a digit. For example, the number 45 has 4 tens and 5 ones. We can also subtract three digit numbers by breaking the number into one, tens, and hundreds. We always have to remember to subtract from ones first.
An example: 547 – 213 = 334.
First, Miss White groups had to discuss what place value is. Place values are the numerical value of a digit. For example, the number 45 has 4 tens and 5 ones. We can also subtract three digit numbers by breaking the number into one, tens, and hundreds. We always have to remember to subtract from ones first.
Next, Miss White told us to grab a whiteboard maker and a whiteboard to draw a place value house. We learned how to do minus by using a place value house. Miss White gave us a solution to solve. The solution we had to solve was : 456 – 326. The problem was that when we start with the ones and you can’t take away 7 from the 6 because it doesn’t give us an answer. How to solve it : we have to solve it by borrowing one tens or hundreds and place it into the ones.
Lastly, we had to make a copy of a google slide that talks about place value and you have to solve the solution. We had to solve 16 by using minus to make it harder because we did addition last week and last term.
I enjoyed learning about place value. I did well at explanning what place value is. I need to improve on adding more details and telling others how I worked it out.
Here is my work :
Hello and welcome back to my blog. For today’s activity we have been doing this. This activity was very easy.
Task Description: This week in room 10 we are going to be learning all about the ”cook islands”. For this task we had to first watch a video of a man telling us interesting facts about the cook islands. Then we had to start trying to write what we have leant and what kind of facts we thought was interesting and great for other people around the world could see. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you.
Last week on a saturday morning I woke up at around 6am and then began to walk down the hallway to eat my yummy breakfast. For breakfast my siblings and I ate eggs with juicy buttery toast. Next I went to brush my teeth and wash my face. Then I went to get changed until I heard a massive knock on the door. ‘’BANG BANG!!’’. After about 2 minutes later I then found out that my siblings and I were home alone because we forgot that our parents were gone shopping for some groceries. While I was walking past the white doors though the hallway, I suddenly felt a massive cold breeze hit me. That’s when I started to become very nervous. As I then open the squeaky white door, I then see a light brown box sitting all alone on the dusty floor, saying ‘’Catherine open this’’. When I found out it said my name on it, it made me a bit suspicious about that package. Eventually I walked to the living room and opened the box and saw a recording saying ‘’listen to this, ‘’Hey sisters!!
