On my last Holes post, I made a summary about Stanley’s unfortunate situation where he had to go to camp green lake., that was about chapters 1-7. Today I am answering questions about chapters 8-14.

1. Do​ ​you​ ​think​ ​Caveman​ ​is​ ​a​ ​good​ ​nickname​ ​for​ ​Stanley?​ ​Why?​ ​Did​ ​he​ ​like​ ​it?                                  Yes, he liked it because it means he is part of the group.

Do​ ​you​ ​think​ ​it​ ​is​ ​wise​ ​for​ ​Stanley​ ​to​ ​lie​ ​to​ ​his​ ​mother​ ​about​ ​camp?​ ​                                                         I think so because that means she won’t be worried.                                                                                           
3. What​ ​would you​ ​do​ ​if​ ​you​ ​were​ ​in​ ​his​ ​situation?​ ​Why?                                                                                    I would stay away from people and mind my own business                                                                                    
4. ​Why​ ​do​ ​the​ ​boys​ ​always​ ​line​ ​up​ ​for​ ​water​ ​in​ ​the​ ​same​ ​order?​                                                                       Because there is certain people who is the boss and leader.                                                                              ​
5. What’s​ ​the significance​ ​to​ ​this​ ​order?                                                                                                               The bosses of the groups always get the water first.                                                                                       
6. Why​ ​is​ ​Mr​ ​Pendanski​ ​asking​ ​the​ ​boys​ ​what​ ​they​ ​want​ ​to​ ​do​ ​with​ ​their​ ​life?​ ​                                            Because he knows they have messed up and he wants to help.                                                                       
7. Mr​ ​Pendanski​ ​tells​ ​Stanley,​ ​“You​ ​messed​ ​up​ ​your​ ​life,​ ​and​ ​it’s​ ​up​ ​to​ ​you​ ​to​ ​fix it.”​ ​Do​ ​you​ ​agree​ ​with​ ​this?                                                                                                                                                                   No, because he did not mess up his life and he was really not guilty for his crime.                                             
8. What​ ​did​ ​Stanley​ ​find?​ ​                                                                                                                                         He found a tube that has a little engraving of a heart and the letters K M.                                                
9. What​ ​does​ ​X-Ray​ ​ask​ ​Stanley​ ​to​ ​do?​                                                                                                                 Give X-Ray the tube so X-Ray can ​have the day off.                                                                                     
10. Why​ ​does​ ​Stanley agree​ ​to​ ​this?​ ​                                                                                                                        So Stanley can be on X-Rays good side.                                                                                                             
11. What​ ​would​ ​you​ ​have​ ​done?                                                                                                                                I would have said yes because I also would want him to like me.                                                                  
12. Were​ ​you​ ​surprised​ ​to​ ​discover​ ​that​ ​the​ ​Warden​ ​is​ ​a​ ​woman?​                                                                    Yes because normally they are men.                                                                                                                       ​
13. What​ ​else​ ​do​ ​you find​ ​out​ ​about​ ​the​ ​Warden​ ​in​ ​this​ ​chapter?                                                                     She likes to say ‘excuse me’ a lot, she is absolutely beautiful, she is good at making her point and she likes to watch them.                                                                                                                                             
14. ​Do​ ​you​ ​think​ ​Zigzag​ ​and​ ​the​ ​other​ ​campers​ ​are​ ​correct​ ​in​ ​believing​ ​that​ ​the Warden​ ​is​ ​always​ ​watching​ ​them,​ ​or​ ​are​ ​they​ ​just​ ​being​ ​paranoid?                                                                                            I think that the only way she would know that he was caveman was if she was watching them.         
15. What do you think it’s like being sent to Camp Green Lake? Do you think it will help the kids be better people in the future? Explain?                                                                                                               I think that it would be sad to go to Camp Green Lake because you leave your parents for over a year and I think that it would make them better kids in the future because now they know their consequences.  

What is the meaning of ​Predatory, Upholstery​, Intensity​, Senseless​ and Paranoid?

Definition of Predatory: Living by hurting and eating other animals.

Sentence for Predatory: “This is the tiger and he is a predator”

Definition of Upholstery: Stuffing or fabric.

Sentence for Upholstery: “I took all upholstery out of the pillow”

Definition of Intensity: Being very strong and harsh.

Sentence for Intensity: “I am so intensely strong”

Definition of Senseless: Stupid and foolish.

Sentence for Senseless: “You are so unbelievably senseless!”

Definition of Paranoid: Thinking someone is watching or threatening you.

Sentence for Paranoid: “Stop being so paranoid!”
