Mural

We are creating our school Mural signifying taranaki and the meaning of this place. Firstly we all made plans of what we wanted on the mural then we put them together on another piece of paper. So we all could take part. On my plan, I had a camera with photos representing memories and cows and sheep and the manga-mountain but on the way I had more ideas that I added. But this term we only had enough time to do two of the wooden boards so we can do the farm side next term.Secondly we sanded the wood we were going to paint the mural on to make it smooth. Then we painted it all white for the base colour and penciled on are main ideas and when we started painting are ideas And what I learnt was about warm colours and cold colours and how they act when you mix the wrong ones together and that’s what we got so far.

NORTH KOREA

What I learnt: Residents of North Korea have a bed time of 6pm, and the power goes out across the country at 6pm. If they go out into the street after 6pm and the lights are not out they can get evicted from their house. People have to work on the railroad tracks and are only allowed certain haircuts, there are 28 State approved haircuts.

The day in the life of a North Korean

I woke up at a early time usually five in the morning I had the last of the food I had left then I went to go get my bike but it finally broke. I had to walk to the fields today its very far like an hour away I was very exhausted once I reached the fields. I get to work fast but I’m not working efficiently enough my boss threatens to report me for treason I’m sad. I’m starting to think this country isn’t good. I think my boss over heard me talk about how the supreme leader isn’t as supreme as we all think. I walked home after work and had a meal then some guards knocked my door and they questioned me then they tackled me and knocked me out. I woke up in a really bad smelling area I then got escorted out and found out I was in a re education camp not very good.

Dairy entry as a North Korean

This week I have been really busy with work, School and Jobs. Something sad that happened was that I had just finished working and on the way to school I saw 2 little kids, one boy and one girl, who both were only about 5 years old who were working really hard. At first I didn’t think anything of it because I thought it was just normal helping out but then I realised, “Where were their parents?” It wasn’t usual for little kids to be working without their parents there. I went up to them and asked them where their parents were. The little girl bursted into tears as she grabbed the little boy and hugged him. A single tear drop dropped from his eye as he said “Our parents died last night while we were sleeping, we woke up and they were on the floor, blood everywhere and a gun on the floor”. My heart dropped as I thought about what they would have seen. “Do you have anywhere to stay?” I asked them, “No” The little boy said, the girl still holding him tightly. I thought about that for the rest of the day until I finally came to a conclusion. As I approached the 2 little ones again I said to them “I don’t want you guys out here all alone and I have a kind loving family who would be happy to have you stay with us, So would you like to come to a warm home?” They both ran to me in tears “We would love to, thank you so much, We have never been much appreciated” They said to me.  Now they are very happy, having been fed, had a wash and In a warm house with a nice new family.

Child Labour Poster.

During the last few social studies lessons we have been learning about Forced Labour. When it comes to this type of stuff not many people have been properly educated or even know about what happens everywhere in the world.

It is important to be notified about this stuff because it happens everywhere in the world and if you know about it then you could tell others about it and then possibly prevent this from happening.

Most of the time you can’t even tell that slavery/labour has been happening behind the scenes of big companies such as Nike, Shein, Temu and other companies. The companies get a lot of money from people buying but the workers don’t really get paid enough to live nicely, the Nike workers in Indonesia get paid very little but that’s all they can live on.

There is also quite a few bad impacts on human trafficking and other labour and slavery. Your stress levels and anxiety can raise a lot and then their mental health declines, you have to get seperated from your family then you could get homesick, and also your health could get bad. If someone working gets sick then it could spread to everyone and gtet bad.

The reason I am writing and saying this stuff is to help spread awareness about the bad things happening in the world. Hopefully someday this can all get stopped and people will get paid more and live their lives nicely.

Forced Labor Seen In Nike w Eleni W

The reason my class made posters in social was because we are spreading awareness about the impacts of human traficing. Some of the impacts include Inequality, Poverty, poor health/sicknesses, stress and anxiety, declines in mental health and separation from family.

Some solutions for this and ways to stop it are you could petition, boycott companies, fair trade or pushing your opinions on the goverment to spread word. The different ways to spread awareness is sharing or making posters.

Through this poster that I have created  I’m trying to share and show people why child labour needs to be impacted on through Spreading awareness! Spreading awareness is so important because its shows people the impacts that happen to other people around the world.

Yours truly Melody and Eleni

Slave Labour Poster

Last week we learnt about slave labour. Slave labour is when people work very hard but are not paid what they deserve.

Some of the impacts this has on people are

  • poor health/sickness
  • stress
  • Mental health declines
  • Poverty

We can help stop slave labour by

  • Spreading awareness
  • Push for government change
  • Petitions
  • Buy clothes with a fair trade tag

Looking into slave labour made me think about what people on the other side of the world are doing for jobs.

What i want to know is why the governments overseas are not putting a stop to slave labour?

Forced Labour

In Social Studies we have been learning about Forced Labour. We have learned about different kinds of places that has Forced Labour. Human Trafficing is a huge part of Forced Labour and is one of the main reasons it exists.

It is important to learn about Forced Labour because everyone needs to know what happens in the world and how we can hopfully prevent this from happening.

The impacts of Forced Labour are that it stops familys from being together, Stops people from living a happy, safe and cleanly life. Poverty is also a big impact of Forced Labour. Everyone has Human Rights and having good Physical and Mental health is part of it but the stress and anxiety of Forced Labour Causes it to be agaist Human Rights. Inequality is another big part of Forced Labour because everyone should be treated equaly not differently depending on the gender, beleifs and culture.

We can stop Forced Labour by Spreading awearness around the world and letting people know what is happening in the world, Pushing for government change, Stoping fair trade in every country, Start worldwide Petitions agaist Forced Labour and even Boycott companies that use Forced Labour.

Some future questions are…

Will Forced Laboour ever be banned in the world?

Will it be agaist the law in the future?

Will Everyone have the same human rights?
