Creative Coral Reading!!
Kia ora, This week in reading everyone started learning about new and different topics from one another. I’m learning about sea coral! I have learnt a lot about it and i’m excited to share it with you. Like I didn’t know that their were like a Gazillion different types of coral I thought it was just the colourful ones like from the movies the little mermaid, finding nemo finding dory and probably others to!! There is even one called brain coral!!! I bet you sounds scary! My group was reading the book and WOW it was interesting their was so much to learn talk about and think about like let me quiz you, did you know that their is such thing as a polyp I bet you, you didn’t. Its this little thing in coral and they look like this —->
Did you know that these polyps basically just work in a cycle around each other because when a polyp dies this thing called a exoskeleton that they have stays behind and it forms a foundation for new baby polyps to grow just like adding new stories to a building. so they grow pretty slowly. The create task was to create like a poster to show 5 things about coral when doing so talking through what it is. Here is my create!! I hope you like it.

I was learning how to do school stuff that connects with my learning that helps me gibets on crocs.
I found it hard getting the right images in it because some of the images were not what I was looking for in particular.

Samoa Language Week 2023
We have had a wonderful week celebrating Gagana Samoa. The theme for this year’s week is Mitamita i lau gagana, maua’a lou fa’asinomaga‘ which means ‘Be proud of your language and grounded in your identity’.
We learned lots of new words, songs, and information about Samoa culture. We were lucky we had a lot of experts in our class that could help us too! Here is a little video of some of our learning this week.
🎉My dad’s birthday🎉
Hi guys, you must be wondering why there is a picture of a Elsa cake, so i’m going to tell you why. So the other day, a wee while ago, it was my dad’s birthday! So first we went to New world and my little sister picked the Elsa cake, and my dad bought candles. At home we were singing happy birthday to dad but then my little sister was sick so mum had to take her and clean her up. So dad blew the candles and saved a slice for my sis.
Respected Leader
LI: To Research about a respected leader.
I created a DLO that shows why Nelson Mandela is a respected leader. I think that Nelson Mandela is a respected leader because he fought for a better world. Nelson Mandela also spent 27 years in prison. He also made a book that is called The Making of a Moral Hero. Here are some facts about Nelson Mandela.
- Nelson Mandela’s birth name was Rolihlahla Mandela, which means “to pull a branch off a tree”.
- Nelson Mandela loved running while in school.
- Nelson Mandela went to The University of Fort Hare.
- Nelson Mandela had six children and 17 grand children
I found this activity interesting because of the journey that Nelson Mandela went through.
Mesuring Capacity Experiment
I did an experiment on mesuring capacity.
First Miss White explained how to do the mesuring capacity experiment. We had to mesure 3 containers and we had to think of how many water it can hold.
Then after mesuring how much water that container can hold we had to wright the capacity.
I enjoyed this task because it was a fun activity. I did well on mesuring it. I need to improve on estimating it.
Passion project playing cards
Hello to everyone who is reading this!
Today (31/5/23) we went to Elderly center care (I don’t know the name so this might not be it!) and played card games!
The card game is called “Seven cards” (Might not be correct!)
We had a very good time there! There was so much laughing! I hope I can go there again.

Playing the Game

1Deal out an entire deck of cards. Pick one person to be the dealer and have them hand out a deck of 52 playing cards, face-down and one at a time, to each person going clockwise. This game can be played with anywhere from three to eight people.[1]- Depending on the number of players, the cards may be dealt unequally. To solve this, switch dealers each round so that everyone has a round with the lowest or highest amount of cards. As long as the dealer switches clockwise and each dealer hands out cards going clockwise, the pattern will repeat fairly.

2Arrange your hand in order of suit and numerical order. To help keep yourself focused, organize the hand dealt to you. You want to arrange the cards first by suit, and then in numerical order. It’s best to start with any twos on the far left and run them up to the ace on the far right.- A whole run will look like this: 2

3Start each round with the 7
. Whoever has the 7
lays them down on the table. When a seven of any suit is played it starts a “layout.” A layout is made by laying cards down one by one next to the seven in sequential order.
- You will have four layouts total, one for each suit.
- As the game continues, the only way a suit layout can be started on the table is if someone plays a seven.
- Some variations of this game select the person to the left of the dealer to go first, regardless of who has the 7

4Organize the layouts on the table. Layouts go horizontally on the table. You can create a grid of 4×13 cards if you put each suit going sideways above one another. Or instead, you can start stacking the rest of the sequence of a suit on top of the 6 and 8 cards to save space.- If you lay the cards vertically within their suits, the game will resemble the solitaire setup.

5Place one card down at a time. Each person puts down one card on their turn, but it has to be the next card in relation to the ones already on the table. 6”Knock” when you cannot play any cards. (Or just say that you can’t go.) Knocking the table is one way to say that you are passing on your turn. Or instead, you can just say “pass.” You may pass when you don’t have any cards that are playable. For instance, if there are only fives through nines on the table and all you have left are twos and face cards.[5]- It is against the rules to pass on a turn if you have a card that can be played anywhere on the table.
- If playing with poker chips, one penalty you can use is that if someone passes when they had cards to play, they have to put three chips in the pot.

7Continue playing until someone runs out of cards. Go around the table, each putting one card down until someone plays their last card. They are the winner of that round, and if you’re only playing one round then they are the winner of the game. Collect all 52 of the cards and start a new round or game.- You can play several rounds within one game to play longer or just play a quick game while killing time.
- You have several options for choosing the next dealer. One option is that the person to the left of the original dealer is now the new dealer.
- The other option is to have the winner deal the cards, or the person to the left of them. All that matters is that each person gets a chance to become the card dealer.

BM’s Samoan Language Week flowers & patterns.
Hello everyone.
Today RM:8 & RM:9 made flowers & patterns for Samoa language week.
First RM:8 came in to our class. Then Whea Tanya came. When she came she showed us an demotration.
After that we made a copy of the set up, here have a look at my work.
Art Trip Recount
ART TRIP RECOUNT
On the Wednesday 24 of may room 8 and room 9 went to the
Corban Art Center.
When we were walking in and a lady came with a puppy and we were petting a puppy.
After that we walked in a room and we put our bags away and sat on the mat. When we sat on the mat there were 2 lady’s that were gonna teach us what to draw.
After that we had to go to a new room to draw and we were gonna draw a native bird with berries. We got a black sheet of and a white chalk.
We drew a bird and the bird I drew was a bird called Hihi but some of my friends drew a kiwi.
After we drew our bird with a white chalk then we drew our bird and berries with colour. And the teacher taught us how to blend and in the middle of our drawing we had morning tea. I had some fruit roll ups and some jumpers (a kangaroo chip)and all my friends wanted fruit roll ups or chips.
After we ate morning tea and finished our colouring we had to wet clay and use it as paint.
When we were getting ready to go we went to a house and saw some things that were over 100 or 10 years ago I think.
After that we got on the bus and went back to school. When we made it to school we played games and then we went home.

Camp Benzton 2023
This was my first time going to Camp Benzton. This is one of the best trips I’ve went on in a while. The best activity at camp was probably rock climbing and abseiling. Rock climbing and abseiling was the best because i got to achieve new goals and conqueror my fears. Another reason why i enjoyed camp was because i got to hang out with my friends and also make new friends that i have never talked to before.

My Poultergeist Scratch Game
This week for our t shaped literacy we had to read a text and then had to fill in some boxes of questions. After we had done that, we had to create a scratch story about 1 slide of the story/text. Do you like my scratch story? Do you have any feedback for me?
elderly center
hello guys today i go to the elderly center we were playing a card game called seven i didn’t win tho but here’s how to play first u start by giving everybody seven card each and then who ever has seven u can make a row or a new row and then u have to place each card in order like after u place seven u can put six on the bottom or u can place eight on the top so that’s it until next time
Frankenstein
Today I read the book, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Illustrated By Pete Katz.
It was about a guy that made someone from the dead come back to life.
Frankenstein comes after his maker trying to kill him.
Wind Racer 2
Me and Stellas wind racer was super cute we made a sail for it and stick it on and then we decorated it and it was honestly so beautiful we painted hearts with clumpy paint and then cut out random peoples faces from the newspaper and stuck it on the hearts, we named our wind racer after a random guy on our newspaper – Sean Plunket. Overall we pretty much just used paint, newspaper and tape to make our wind racer. To add a special touch we stuck a gum wrapper in a hole of tape. We also had rope wrapper around out bamboo stick that was going up the middle of it.
In the end when it came to racing me and Stellas wind racer definitely did the best, we made it about 2 centimetres past the start line and it fell over. We did not come last at all. I didn’t get a good photo of the finished thing so I had to crop it and you can only see part of the front.

Blog Profiles
Today in our Cybersmart lesson we created an online profile for our blogs. We did this in Google Drawing.
We had to use Word Art for our name, replace image to put our photo in the frame, and then introduce ourselves and be Cybersmart by using personal but not private information. We also found out how to format our name and photo frame to give it a drop shadow.
Next week we will post these on our blogs. We are all new to blogging so this will be an exciting day for us when we get our own blog.

My Perfect Pick a Path
Today with Michelle we were learning about sharing information online and having a smart digital footprint. I decided to make a pick a path. I learnt how to insert links onto images.
