Paper Plane Unit

This is about what we did in maths last week. We had to make 3 different planes and make them different to the last one. We flew them so we could measure the after math. The main focus on this project is measurement.

Conclusion: I learnt that if you have holes in your plane it will travel further than a plane without holes.

Beeswax Wraps

Yesterday we made some beeswax wraps. We were given a small square fabric to design before we had to dip it in the beeswax. When we finished we waited until Anouk came to get three student to go with her. We had to use them for our lunch. Instead of using glad wrap or tin foil we use these. What I enjoyed was drawing my design and dipping it in the beeswax.

Environment Issue IQ

Hello again this a new blog.

Do we produce enough food to feed the world?
and how can we make more?

1. It is predicted by 2050 we won’t have enough food to feed the world’s population unless we do something. but at the moment we will have a good amount.

2. we can farm better and so we can have more food by 2050.

an a Environment Issue of farming
Farming wrecks the soil because of soil erosion and pesticides sprayed on weeds which gets into the soil. The machines you use pump out gases. Cows cause problems with the water and you can use a lot of waters on plants. Also as soon as you clear land to farm you strip it of its natural habitat. All in all farming is bad for the environment.

My environmental issue

My environmental issue
My topic for my environmental issue is deforestation and air pollution.

You may think that there are heaps of trees left in the world, I wouldn’t think that after hearing this, if you count to 10 that’s 10 trees gone, so 60 trees are gone every minute. Deforestation isn’t something that you can fix right away, it’s something we have to fix over time. Deforestation isn’t just affecting us, it’s affecting our environment, the animals and our oxygen. We need to act on this fast.

Here are some shocking facts you need to know about our environment. 50,000 animals die in the rain forest because of deforestation, we could be next if we don’t act on it. It is estimated that within 100 years there will be no rain forests at all. Agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation. One and a half acres of forest is cut down every second. If these facts don’t convince you enough to think of changing then what will, would you like more animals dying or perhaps more rain forests to be cut down. It’s up for you to change.

What’s my opinion on this topic you ask? Well if those paragraphs didn’t convince you on how I feel, I’ll make one just for you. I think it’s unbelievable and heart breaking that we just let this slip out of our hands we need to make changes before things get worse. We need to realise that this isn’t just affecting one species it’s affecting all.

We can all start to change if we just do some of these steps. Plant a tree, If you plant a tree it can make a big chance especially if everybody in the world plants at least one. We can also start to recycle my family has started doing it, so can you. I hope this will change your mind and think about the affects of deforestation.

Smoking

Smoking is really bad for you because it can effect you and everyone around you or everything. It can also effect the environment it can also pollute the air, water and land. Smoking can also give you cancer and a lot more things. If you smoke and you have children around you the might have a hared time to breath. When you smoke and throw the rest of the smoke on the ground it doesn’t go away. If we can stop smoking it will mean that less people will die. We are still looking for a way we can also ban smoking. We are still looking for ways to stop this. This graph information is from 2014.

Environmental issue: Deforestation

Environmental issue: Deforestation

You may think there are a lot of trees left in the world but did you know that 10 trees are cut down every 10 seconds you count.

100 species of animals are killed because of deforestation each day. We could be next if our trees are gone. 200,000 acres of rain forest are gone already.
Rain forests contain about 50% of the worlds wildlife population which is round about 50,000 species

This is very shocking that we are just letting this happen to our world.
We can start changing our lives now even the tiniest move can make a great change into the future.

Intro

My topic is air pollution.
My opinion on this is that it’s bad.
We need to stop polluting the air with fossil fuels. Air pollution is mainly caused by fossil fuels and it’s warming up the earth. We need to reduce air pollution by not using fossil fuels.  We need to stop using fossil fuels and start using eco-friendly power generator.

The decka tree

This week for math i have been solving a problem called the deca tree . It is about counting how much leaves/trunks/branches/twigs. The hard part is working alone because i get stuck in a lot of math equations but i try until i get an answer. The easy part is calibrating in a group because i get to hear my groups answers.
