a change done by an increased amount of soot and other human-made emissions into the
atmosphere. Most of the warming happened in the past 35 years, with the warmest on record
happening since 2010. Not only was 2016 the warmest year on record but from January through
September except June were the warmest on record for those months. Since the beginning of the
Industrial Revolution, the acidity of surface ocean waters has increased by about 30 per cent.
This increase is the result of humans emitting more Soot into the atmosphere and
hence more being absorbed into the oceans. The amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by the upper
layer of the oceans is increasing by about 2 billion tons per year, So it’s real… and I don’t give a crap.
That’s my opinion so don’t ask anything else because I have stated my opinion, thank you…

Day 3 – Media
CREATE – reflected on the way my senior GEO students prefer pencil and paper creations over their digital tools – but I can learn how to teach them more possibilities.
I practiced some new skills with drawings and slides which I can immediately use to improve my presentations so that’s a leap forward. It’ll be great for planning documents, IEP schemes etc.
Alos I think I can make use of playlists in my You Tube Channel, with ready access for students to GEO clips etc. Thanks everyone for a great day!

“Keeping up with technology change”
My workflow will be helped by setting up my Gmail a bit more efficiently, especially getting rid of old files. The most valuable thing would be being able to have a longer delay on send of 30 seconds so i can stop mistake sends!!
I have nothing yet that I would be confident sharing with my students except maybe this delay send.
Google Calendar would make me feel a slave to technology and be confusing with so many calendars. Whats wrong with my teachers plan book? Its always worked in the past.
The recording exercise was fun to be part of, but unfortunately we couldn’t save it to share. I would struggle to replicate this process however!
Digital Pepeha, Today’s achievement!
Also our Hangout went a little smoother which I’ll post when it comes through (The download is slow)
DF! Reflection
As usual we covered a lot of practices. Fortunately this time there was some time allotted to retry Google Hangouts etc.
I am grateful that the 2 x guest speakers on Google Hangouts were more focused on our learning needs ie. actual, useful methods on computers, vs. a philosophical discussion about Manaia Kalani’s history: that was somewhat interminable in Week 1.
I enjoyed getting a snapshot of wider practices by Kent Somerville = drones, Live Streaming, changes of YT policy etc. The explanation of ’embedding’ was useful. re prioritising slides, stopping kids ‘surfing’ other stuff on YT etc.
Various conceptual ideas made me think about my own teaching, by AnneSinclair, viz: METACOGNITION; SiSoMo; the concept of EXPLORATION time; the use of practical/ artistic work to deeply imbue students with actual learning. I enjoyed Anne’s quote of: “If it’s not worth Sharing, was it worth Doing?” – I will steal that to prompt some tamariki.
I especially enjoyed some work done on Google Drawing, and later on Google Slide, and did some useful developments of those areas.
The requirement to do a Shared post (with Edwina and Scott at distances) on Google Handout had it’s hiccups, but we eventually did a good sharing. CWE
