Hello everyone . We have been learning about fantasy writing this is my writing. The first thing we had to do was plan our story then wrote it in our writing book. Then we wrote it in our Chromebook and we had to generate an image on gemini. My favourite part was to generating a image.The challenging part was writing the story . I’m Eli and today we will be talking about my rock tumbler!

It was a present from my mum on my birthday.

We used it to polish some stones!

Well more like twenty but whatever.

The first step was rinsing the stones then we put the water in.

We had to put the grit in after, close the lid and put it on the machine and let it run for two to four days, we did it for three days.

I did it in the shed because it was quite loud.

This is only the first blog about it so stay tuned for more about my rock tumbler!

Last Thursday the tiaki taiao group they went to lake Kaniere to learn about the tracking tunnels and traps. After we come back from the lake we made a slide show and we showed the school in assembly we each said a slide I said this:

We looked around the pathway and deeper in the bush to find the tracking tunnels, there was blue coloured ribbon in trees for the little black tracking tunnels that we did here at school.

We went to the Kahikatea walk at Lake Kaniere to get to know how to get the pests away like rats, mouse, stoats, and possums. We used Mr Challangers phone with a GPS to find where the traps and tracking tunnels were on our walk there was tags on the trees

My class has been making our self portrait! First we had to draw our self portrait in our art book second we had to glue a step by step self portrait last we had to draw our self portrait on a piece of paper then we had to show the teacher and see if she liked it! We have been making a self portrait. We first drew our self portrait in our art book. Then we show it to the teacher to check if we can go to a piece of paper  (Not in Art book.) If you showed it to the teacher you will make another self portrait. First you draw the shape of the head. Second you draw the eyes. Thirdr draw thee ears. Forth you draw the shoulders and the neck. Then you draw the hair. After you finished your self portrrait you show it to the teacher again to tell that you finished your self portrait.

Yesterday we played touch with Preston’s Dad

First, we had to get in groups of four or three, then Preston’s dad place five balls in the middle of all of our squares that we had to line up within our groups. then the first person had to run when all the balls were gone from the middle we got to run around and steal the other teams ball but that didn’t end out too good so we decided to do a different drill where we had one person in the middle and three people on the outside of the square and then the person in the middle had attacked the wall outside of the square without the people on the outside of the square attacking them.

My favourite part was lining up and trying to steal balls from the other team

We used rabbit meat for some bait for stoats and rats, then we put the tracking card inside the tracking tunnel. The rabbit meat was very hard; I hope stouts go in. 

My favorite part is when I got to put the rabbit meat in the tracking tunnel.

As Term 1 comes to an end, Nevaeh has been busy with a range of hands-on activities.

She has spent time exploring art using paint and pens, building her confidence and fine motor skills. She has also been using button toys where she presses a button and it names the colour, helping her with colour recognition.

Nevaeh has enjoyed playing with cars, sorting them into colours and groups. She has also been learning about size, exploring the concepts of small, smaller, and smallest through play.

Nevaeh also had her final physio session with Sam to wrap up the term. As always, music has been a real highlight, and we’ve gotten to hear Nevaeh’s beautiful voice a lot more this term. It has been great to see her progress, and we look forward to settling in with a new therapy team in Term 2.

Overall, it’s been a productive term with lots of practical learning and development.

We have been making place value houses. It was pretty fun, my favourite part was picking a theme. My theme was emoji.

Hello, This week we have been planig our self portraits. We started by feling our face to get a routh idea of the shape of our head is. Then we would draw 2 line’s down the middle of our page. Then we would folow the steps on this.

For the next step we are going to put the 7 elements of art for the back grond. If you don’t know what the 7 elenents of art are they are

shape, space, form, colour, line, value and texture.

This week we have being making posters for our reports. I have being working hard to make my poster. We had to get out our writeing books and our cromebooks to do the research, once we had our research done we started our poster. I have not finished my poster yet. This week we went to the lake and were looking for 12 traps . and we got to see what happens when the rat walks through the trap  and we sore the trap squished a sock . the sock had a mark in  the  sock .the teacher and the kids  plus the leaders took a photo at the end. and this is one of them. this is the  group that went to the lake.

my favourite part of the lake kaniere was  when we were looking for the trap  and when we hat to go  therew the bush  and   i found a  bee shell and i broung it all the way and Jasper held rabbit meat.

My class has been making a poster of anything you like. I made a poster about dinosaurs. You are only allowed 3 or under. My dinosaurs are t-rex, spinosaurus and mosasaurus. We had to find facts on Google then write it on your writing book once you finished all the facts you show the teacher you finished she will give you a big or medium piece of paper the you get a ruler to outline were you are going to write the facts and draw the picture. We have been making report posters. First we had to finish our report in our writing book. Second we made a plan of what the poster will look like. When you finished the plan you show it to the teacher. Third we went to the teacher to get a piece of paper we can get a small piece of paper or a big piece of paper I pitted the big piece of paper because the small piece of paper will be to small to put my information in. Next we made some boxes on our report Poster. Then we made the titles on the top of the report poster. After we writied the information in the boxes. My favorite part was to write the titles.

At Kaniere School 10 people including me went to lake Kaniere on monday.We went there because we were Tiaki Taiao people we went there because animals like kiwi and 2 others are gone from the lake Kaniere bush.They left because there was many pest like rats stoats mice and other pests.We went in the track at sunny bight.There were traps that we had to check if any pests were in there and we had to put down tracking tunnels and we had to put chocklat and rabbit meat which was salted we had to put ink on a board and then slide it in.

The hardest part of this trip was finding the tracking tunnels and the traps.

the funnest part of this was learning about the animals.

This week we did poster planning were you collect information about anything you want and then you use that information and put it on a slide. We had two weeks to collect information about the topic you were doing.

My topic is puffer fish because they are funny and they puff up when they are scared.Some of the information I got was that puffer fish have four teeth that are in a big beak shape they use their sharp teeth to crush through shells to get food from inside the shell. Before we do the slide posters we do a fake one to plan what it will look like so we don’t make a mistake on the real one and when we are done we present it in the front of the whole class and we share what we learnt.

On  the posters we do a cool design based on what is about since mine is about puffer fish I make a water themed poster with coral at the bottom and I made the facts in the puffer fish’s belly.

Hi!!!!!!! I have been making a place value house. This is what my house looks like. My favourite part was adding the details and making it.

The challenging part of making this was starting it because we started with nothing, but it got funner and funner. How do you like the math people?

This week we  have been making  our own place value house. You might be wondering why are we making our own place value house?

Well when  we are doing maths we had one  and it was a pretty normal place value house so Miss Cabral said let’s make our own.

Everyone in the classroom made their own place value house. My theme was SpongeBob SquarePants.

I added detail and some characters.

My favourite part was making the characters.
