🌈 The Magic of Stinky Cabbage! 🌈

🌈 The Magic of Stinky Cabbage! 🌈

Did you know that stinky cabbage can change the color of liquids? That’s what we used in our science experiment!

We started with three clear containers and waited for our teacher to give us the cabbage liquid. Then we tested lemonade, vinegar, and baking soda.

First, we made guesses about what would happen when we added each substance to the cabbage liquid. When we added the baking soda, the liquid turned greenish-blue. Vinegar made it a bright pink, and lemon juice turned it a pretty pink color.

The coolest part was when we mixed the cabbage liquid with both something acidic and something alkaline. The liquid turned dark blue and started to foam!

It felt like I was a magician mixing magical potions. This experiment with stinky cabbage was so much fun!

 “The Faceless Stalker” 👤

                                               “The Faceless Stalker” 👤

As I was walking through the fog, I saw a man who looked really creepy and had no face. I was scared, but I was also super curious to see if he had a face or not.

When I got closer, he suddenly jumped up and started running at me like a slow version of the Flash. Even though he was kinda slow, he was getting closer and closer. Just as he got near me, he tripped and fell right in front of me. At that moment, I heard someone singing, “Beggin’ on your knees to be popular, you had a dream to be popular.”

The faceless man looked at the person singing, then turned back to me and started chasing me around. I kicked him in the stomach and ran home. But when I opened the door, he was standing right behind my mom! My mom slammed the door and ran away, leaving me alone with the scary man.

Shapes and Animals!

Talofa Bloggers!

Today my principal Ms Campell was our teacher for our middle block because our normal teacher had a meeting. While we had Ms Campell, she gave us a fun activity to do. We had to cut out some paper that were in different shapes and use the shapes to make different types of shapes and animals! The animals we did were a Dog, Rabbit, Cat, Horse, Swan and Fish. My favourite animals I did were the Swan, Dog, Rabbit and Fish!

Here are some photos of my animals!

The mystery experiment…..

The mystery experiment

On Monday me and Kea did an experiment. First, we got into groups. My group turned out to be Saarah and Ezekiel and lastly Talia. After that, we went to our table and John gave us our first cup. I put my hand into the cup and I felt something sticky it was slimy gooey and smooth after all of us touched it we looked inside and it turned out to be a type of leaf.I thought to myself and said “well that’s a surprise”.Our group got our next cup and I put my hand in it first it was another thing that was smooth and it was kinda wet. When Talia put her hand in it she said “guys I think its a wipe ” we all looked inside and to our surprise it was a wipe.Talia took the wipe and rubbed it on her face and she said it felt nice and then she used it to fake that she was sick and I laughed.John did one more swap before we put our hand in the cup Jordan ran over and told us not to put our hands inside because there was candy but we didn’t care I nearly put my hand inside. But just before I put my hand in the cup Jordan said the boys group put the candy in there mouths so I stopped and gave the cup to the boys group and then I went back to my group. Later after we were done we cleaned up and everyone headed back to the mat.

cabbage expirment

“Kea were going to do the red cabbage experiment.” said Ms Wheae Ocea.

Next we were put into groups of 5. My group was Te ahi, Ofa, Aiesi, Ray and I.

The materials were 2 plastic cups. Ms Ashley poured some red cabbage juice in the cup. The substance we tested was baking soda  when we added it in it turned red which meant it was Acid.

After we did rock paper scissors and I lost so I had to wash the cups. The next thing  we tested was borax it turned blue.

It was really fun you should try it for yourself.

the stinky cabbage experiment

                                                             The stinky cabbage experiment

On monday me and my (Nisi,Kahlia,Tes and Ava)  were doing a bubbling cabbage experiment. It was really stinky. You need one piece of paper to  record your predictions. Our vinegar prediction was 3 on  the ph scale but it turned out to be a 2 on the ph scale but then that means it’s acidic.

Baking soda time! 123 pour. Woah it’s like a green color,  then that means its 11 on the ph scale  woah that’s really high  so then we were right our prediction was 11 on the ph scale. it’s a base. Wait… what will happen if we mix it.

Ready mix wow it’s purple it’s amazing hq12ow a base and an acidic can turn itself into a neutral.

This experiment was amazing. I was like a wizard mixing potions.

On monday kea did an experiment about the cabbage indicator. Which is just cabbage juice but it’s natural so were doing an experiment with it so let’s start. The substances are baking soda, three plastic cups, vinegar and anything you want to put in it but not solid things only in liquid form.First we got in groups of 4 or 5.Then our teacher gave us 3 plastic cups and a two sided paper for the experiment. After that we got a table.First our teacher put cabbage juice in the cups. Then we put the substances in the cups but not all in one cup.And whan I did it it was like the transformation from purple to random colors and with vinegar it turned into pink.

The purple cabbage experiment

On Monday me and kea did an experiment.

First we got into groups my group was Ezekiel and Tynesha and Ali. After we got into groups, we were given 3 cups and a pen and paper (with the instructions) and a part where we write our productions. Me and my group went to a table.

Later after we waited Miss Whea Ocea poured the cabbage liquid into our 3 cups. After that Ezekiel got a small cup of borax and he poured it into the cabbage liquid after he mixed the borax with the cabbage juice it turned into like a turquoise which was a neutral. We did the next cup and Tynesha put the vinegar in the second cup and it turned hot pink witch was an acidic . For the last cup I put hand sanitizer it turned into basic it was a light green. After that Ali poured 2 of the cups into 1 and it turned back into a neutral cause it turned dark purple again. After cleaning our mess we went to handwriting.

The red cabbage experiment

GET INTO A GROUP OF FOUR! Yelled  Whae Ocea. “You can be join us” said a familiar voice  as I Turned back I saw Mesepa, Rose and Holeva waiting for an answer. Since I don’t have a group I guess i’ll join them. We went searching for a table and high chairs but there. All of them were taken by different groups. The only available table and seat was a window. Yeah, it’s a window but it can act like a table. We all gathered and got a chair each and surrounded the window with two chairs because there was four of us so two sat on the window and two sat on chairs.

We got (3 cups) some groups only got two so we were lucky we read the instructions and wrote our predictions then we told Miss Ashley to pour purple cabbage juice into our one of our cups we had and once there was some cabbage juice we took a scoop of baking soda and the cabbage juice had changed colors it was a pinkish reddish it was acidic just like we predicted.

Finally! We didn’t have much time so we did the cabbage juice with Epsom salts and it stayed the same color then we did lemon juice we only put tiny little drops of lemon juice it was acidic we wanted to test acidic with basic we did the lemon juice with the baking soda and watched the show…were waiting for it to do something “WAIT” I yelled there was something bubbling inside the cup WOW! IT WAS AN EXPLOSION it fizzed and popped. It was so cool! But it’s time to pack up now so we had to pack up but at least that was very fun

It was very fun. I felt like a scientist and the experiment was really fun and cool!.

The purple bubbles…

The purple bubbles

“Lets be groups?” “Bro I’m so tired!” The voices I heard around me. Suddenly someone playfully pushed me behind. “Nate do you want to be in our groups?” I saw three of my friends (Which was, Akesa, Antonia and Jordan.) “Sure.” I said.  If you guys don’t know what kea kids are doing we are doing a experience with purple cabbage.  We went to Mrs Ashley to get a paper that tells which color is normal and which is a acid then we got a clear cup so we can see what happens inside.

So since I had my group secondly we went into the hanga and claimed a table and sat down.

After we sat down Mrs Ashley came with a big also clear cup and we saw some purple cabbage inside then she poured it in.

“Eww! The cabbage stinks!” Another person from another group said. I agreed it stinks because it really did, It smelt like my smelly brothers farts.

When Mrs Ashley walked away Antonia wrote down lemon juice. After a while Mrs Ashley came back with lemon juice and poured some inside the cup and it made it greenish blueish. ¨Wow! it changed colors!¨ Jordan said¨Yeah!¨ Antonia said back. I thought that it was basic.

This experiment was so fun and cool! I felt good  after we did the experiment.

Ph indicator test

Ph indicator test

Did you know how to test what your using? Well, it is easy.

First we were on the mat so whaea Ocea can tell us what we are going to do.

Next we got into groups of four my group was Nate, Akesa, Jordan and me. Then we got our paper and three containers then we went to our table (in the hanga area).

After we started to write our predictions our first was for lemonade we added it into the indicator (cabbage juice) but our prediction was neutral  but it was a 2 or 3 and that is acidic. So you can do it yourself.

Then what you need  is three containers and cabbage juice. Pour it in the containers and use any liquid in it and you will see the ph of it.

Overly the experiment was fun and learning new things.
