This week we have been celebrating Tongan Language week in many different ways, and one of those ways is designing a Tapa. First we opened our Maths books and went to the very last page of our books. On that page we ruled 18 squares by 18 squares to make one big square, inside that square we then divided it into 9 squares so it was now 3 by 3, all 9 squares were 6 by 6. In those squares we began designing our Tongan patterns, Mrs Mundy drew some layouts of where we can have our patterns on the white board. The names of my patterns are Heilala, Tokelau Feletoa, Manulua, and Amoamokofe. Fun Fact: Ngaahi Kupesi Faka-Tonga just means ‘Tongan Patterns’. Here is my digital art:
