This week the intermediates had to write a review about a movie that we watched based on the book Hatchet by Gary Pulsan. I wrote my review and copied it below:
This is a review about a movie called A cry in the wild. It is a movie based on the book called Hatchet by Gary Pulsan. If You like a good survival story then this might just be your style!
It is about a boy called Brian, and his parents had just gotten divorced. He was on a plane to visit his dad in Canada, but the pilot had suffered a heart attack, and they crash landed in a lake. Now Brian had to face what lay before him in the wilderness.
I found it cool when he carved out wood with the hatchet saying; Home. One of my favourite parts about the movie was when he finally got to go back to his real home. My least favourite part of the movie was when Brian stabbed the bear, because he later realized the bear had little cubs.
Specifically I didn’t like when he stabbed the bear with a spiky stick, and I liked when he went home to his family and hugged his Mum and Dad.
In my opinion I would give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars because I think that this movie was nearly perfect but there were a few things that were a little bit bad. When I read the book I had a completely different picture of what Brian looked like, so I was a little disappointed when I saw the actor. But in conclusion I highly recommend this movie if you like survival themes.
What Kind of survival Books do you know of?
