Te Whakatere Waka

Kia ora, This week my class and I did some learning about  Maori Navigation And Science Of The Stars. We learnt about compasses and how they work. We also learnt different resources you can use to know where you are going, and what to do/use in a situation without any internet and technology. My favourite thing we learnt was a story that Matua Travis told our class, He told us the story of  Kupe’s dad and how he was the person who traveled from Hawaiki and followed the stars for 20 years then found Aotearoa, After Matua told us the story. We made a map of Kupe and Kupes dad’s travels. I really enjoyed listening to the story and making the map, I hope to learn more stories of the history of New Zealand.
