This morning our class read this article about workplace safety and how it isn’t optional. It’s a shared commitment between employers and employees to make sure that everyone goes home safe at the end of the day. Every year thousands of New Zealanders are injured at work, last year 70 people died from work-related incidents and over 180,000 work related injury claims were also submitted last year, According to ACC.
It’s a shared responsibility, employers need to provide a safe working environment while the workers have obligations and procedures to follow, and also to report hazards when they identify them. It’s a good precaution to always look out for one another.
