Anatomy of a chickens wing

The anatomy off a chicken arm

Aim

the aim of the experiment was to find out all the different parts of a chickens arm and cut them all up see what was inside them and see what they look like.

Research

A chicken wing has three main parts the drum, the wing, and the tip. The drum is the thickest part and connects to the body. The winge is the middle part with two small bones. The tip is the end and has little meat. The wing has bones, muscles, and skin and helps the bird move even though chickens can’t really fly.

Equipment

  • surgical scissors
  • seekers

Method

Last week we did a dissection of a chicken leg. The first thing we did was take off all the skin on the leg. We then looked at all the muscles and tendons under the skin that we had just taken off. after that we removed the  all the muscles till it was only bone and then we started looking at the joints, cartilage and the ligaments.

result

I didn’t get any photos but here is a picture of a dissected chicken

In conclusion I think that the dissection really helped  with understanding the anatomy of it.
