For the past week our class has been constantly working up on the far end hill by the score board on the rugby field. We started filling in our trenches we dug out with scoria stone for a long coil to sit on top of to gather water from rain and send it down to the drain.
We had three teams, one team stayed behind outside of class to shovel all the stone from the pile to put of the trailer to take up, the other them were shovelling them out of the trailer and onto wheel barrows, and the last team were taking those wheel barrows down to the trenches and laying the rocks down.
We placed the stone on the bottom of the trench for the coil to sit on top of so it doesn’t sink into the ground when muddy and potentially getting blocked up. Once we managed to get the stone all the way to the bottom of the hill we placed the coil on top of it then placed the rest of the stone on top of it going down all the way to the bottom.
While completing this task I learned what the purpose of a coil is and how it works and helps.
