What Animals Can We Find At The Blaketown Estuary?

Question: What Animals Can We Find At The Blaketown Estuary?

Research: We have done research on what creatures and plants we might find like bugs, crustaceans and possibly small fish. We know that there is bateria in the lagoon.

Hypothesis: I think we will primarily find plants and semi aquatic like bugs. I also think that we’ll find small crabs or some shells.

Materials: We had a viewing cylinder, scoop net, container and shovel. We also had a skipping rope.

Procedure: We went to Blaketown Estuary on New Zealand South Island. First we found a spot to place our skipping rope because that was our perimeter to observe. The people in my group with two pairs of shoes could go in the water. My group found types of shells, rocks, and plants and I found the crabs.

Data: Shells were about twenty percent of what we found, rocks sixty percent, fifteen percent plants and five percent crabs

Anlaysis: Just as I thought no group found fish and in one area of the mud flats there were actually a lot of plastic and glass bottles. Unexpectedly I didn’t find any bugs, which I thought there’d be a lot of.

Conclusion:  In conclusion we found out that you’re more likely to find rubbish, rock, plants, shells and crabs. You’d probably only find the fish in deeper water in the lagoon.

Question for next time: Are there actually rig sharks in Blaketown lagoon?
