The sun is the nearest star to Earth, providing us with heat and light. The sun also lets out powerful, dangerous rays that cause sunburn. From Earth the sun appears to move across the sky during the daytime, but why?

The sun is the star in our solar system, the one that all the planets orbit around. The sun may appear to be close to Earth but in fact it is over 150 million kilometers away. The heat radiating from the sun takes about 8 minutes to reach planet Earth, meaning that we feel the heat 8 minutes after it has actually taken place!
Why Does The Sun Move
The sun rises in the east and sets in the west causing the sun to move across the sky in a matter of hours, this is because the Earth is spinning on its axis towards the East hence the reason the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The path that the sun takes is also known as the day arc.
