Things That Fly – Science

Hello, welcome back to my blog! Today in Science, I’m excited to explore the fascinating world of flight. From birds to aeroplanes, flight captivates our imagination, and it’s all governed by four fundamental forces:

1. Drag The resistance an object faces when moving through the air. This force works against thrust and affects how streamlined a flying object is.

2. Thrust: The forward force that propels an object. In aeroplanes, engines produce thrust, while birds generate it by flapping their wings.

3. Gravity is the force that pulls objects toward the Earth. It influences how high things can ascend and plays a vital role in flight mechanics

4. Lift: The upward force that allows an object to rise. Created by the wings of birds and aeroplanes, lift is essential for staying airborne.

Now I am going to list ten things that fly which is man-made and ten others which are natural.

Man-Made

  1. Aeroplane
  2. Hot air balloons
  3. Drones
  4. Rockets
  5. Gliders
  6. Kites
  7. Paper aeroplanes
  8. Boomerangs
  9. Frisbee
  10. Fireworks

Natural

  1. Birds
  2. Bats
  3. Flying Fish
  4. Clouds
  5. Flying squirrels
  6. Albatrosses
  7. Moths
  8. Dragon Flies
  9. Pterosaurus (extinct flying reptile from the age of the dinosaurs.)
  10. Dragon Nymphs ( When Matured)

Conclusion –

After naming things about flying things that are man-made and natural, I had a few more steps. My class was going to make a paper aeroplane, and we followed the instructions Mr Palmer gave us to make the plane. After everyone finished, my class went outside and started to fly it. We found that by changing the wings and tail on the plane you can change the way it flies. When the wings are changed the air flows well over the plane it flies better.
