I have chosen to investigate The death of Adolf hitler
Interesting pieces of information about the death of Adolf hitler are:
- The setting: In January 1945, as the Soviet Red Army advanced, Hitler retreated to the Führerbunker, a large, subterranean air raid shelter located beneath the Reich Chancellery garden. Here, he and his inner circle directed Germany’s final, doomed military operations.
- The marriage: On the night of April 29, just hours before their deaths, Hitler and his long-time mistress Eva Braun were married in a brief civil ceremony.
- Last goodbyes: On the afternoon of April 30, Hitler said his final goodbyes to the remaining staff in the bunker. He and Braun then retired to his private study.
- Cremation: After their deaths, Hitler’s adjutant, Otto Günsche, and others carried the bodies out into the Chancellery garden. There, they were doused with petrol and set on fire. The cremation was incomplete due to shelling and a lack of fuel.
- Discovery: The Soviets captured the Chancellery on May 2, 1945. They discovered Hitler and Braun’s burnt remains and, through dental records, confirmed their identities.
- Disinformation: After the war, Soviet leader Joseph Stalin oversaw a campaign of disinformation, spreading rumors that Hitler had escaped. This was part of a larger effort to sow confusion during the early Cold War.
- Final disposition: Hitler’s body was secretly buried and later exhumed several times. In 1970, to prevent the grave from becoming a shrine, the KGB exhumed the remains one last time, fully cremated them, and scattered the ashes into a German river.
- For decades, conspiracy theories have falsely claimed that Hitler survived and fled. A 2018 study by French scientists analyzed fragments of Hitler’s teeth and bone held by Russian archives. The analysis confirmed:
- The remains were authentically Hitler’s.
- The presence of both a gunshot wound and cyanide residue was confirmed, indicating that he likely both bit a cyanide capsule and shot himself.
- No remains of Hitler are unaccounted for, ending long-running myths about his escape.
- Hitlers last words were ‘it is finished, goodbye’
There were a number of ways that I demonstrated respect towards other culture beliefs during this unit. I did this by being respectful and asking questions in a respectful but not racist way. I also payed attention during this unit and let others talk.
It is important that I take care of all areas of my hauora when I experience change, loss, or grief because one day I will grieve and I might not know how to cope so if I learn this now then it will be helpful later in life.
I can take care of my hauora when I experience change, loss, or grief by letting the grief happen and cope with it
