Andre for me stands out as a strong role model for teenagers because of how much he grows and changes throughout the story. At the start, he deals with anger, loss, and the pain of not having a father in his life, then his brother getting locked up just makes it even more painful for him. But him Growing up in a rough neighborhood filled with violence and few chances for success, Andre feels like hes distance himself from school and unsure about his future. Over time, with the help of Ms. Gruwell and the encouragement of his classmates, he starts to see that education and expressing himself to others can open doors and help him express himself in positive ways. A key moment that shows Andre as a positive role model is when someone asks if he has time to deal, and he replies that he doesn’t have time because he has school. This moment shows how much he has changed and how seriously he takes his education. His journey shows that anyone can change if they are willing to put in the effort. Andre learns to make the right choices and use writing to work through his emotions and letting Ms. Gruwell know whats happening in the background of his life besides school. By sharing his story honestly, he gives others the courage to face their own struggles. His determination, self belief, and courage to grow make him and shows hes a baddie example for teenagers. Andre proves that where someone comes from does not change who they can become and who they are in the inside. Through his growth and display, Andre becomes a one of the bestest reference for me and him doing the right things and showing his strength for others facing the same challenges.
